Most likely skipped one dose of Odefsey
« on: December 14, 2020, 05:05:44 am »
Guys, please help.
I was in a rush today and most likely forgot about taking my daily dose of Odefsey which i always take after breakfest.

Im on odefsey since 2015 and undetectable.
I really cant recall if i took my pill today or not
Ive called my doctor immediately and she advised me its better to take it again than to skip it until next day.

What do you guys think? Any experience?
What If, after all, i take two doses today, in space of an hour?

Hiya,

If it was me I would not risk double dosing and simply consider this a potentially missed dose. That's life, despite best efforts a missed dose will happen, thankfully the meds are forgiving a single missed dose is not seen as a treatment issue.

I would just try to avoid the confusion going forward and not make it a habit.

Included a few references on the topic as adherence, try for 100% adherence but I would have zero stress over a single missed dose when it does happen.

Take it easy

Jim

The threshold for optimal adherence to achieve better virologic outcomes appears to be wider than the commonly used cut-off point (≥95% adherence). Though patients taking ART should be instructed to attain ≥95% adherence, apprehensions of slightly lower adherence should not deter prescribing ART regimens at an early stage of HIV infection.

No, double-dosing will not affect adherence.

I've double dosed a few times, this it can happen as well. I'm on DTG based regime and it did not go down well for me when this happened but I managed.
