lumbo,

You put water into a used condom and squeezed it, and you were surprised to see a tiny hole squirting water? You likely damaged it messing around with it after you used it. You're supposed to tie a knot in it and dispose of it properly - not go play water balloons with it. Get with it and learn how to use - and dispose of - condoms properly and you won't have these kind of worries. Please read the condom and lube links in my signature line.

You wore a condom. You were protected. You didn't have a risk.

Ann,

Ok it might be after sex the condom got a hole when I put water. But what if while having sex the condom that I did use has a hole from the start and I was shocked it didnt broke.

I was afraid of the symptoms I got. Dizziness for a month straight, Back Pains, Weird Rash, Hot Feeling( I was told its not a Fever because the temp was 37)

So if i did had a risk. Im reading here that a 6 week negative is highly reliable. What can you say about 65-66day negative(9weeks and 2/3 days)?

lumbo,

I'd say your results are highly unlikely to change.

Ann,

I read at other sites that 6-8 weeks is conclusive. Here you says 6weeks is highly encouraging and you follow the CDC that says 12/13 weeks for conclusive.

I read that CDC is conservative organization. I assume they put allowance on the 12/13 weeks. How many weeks did the CDC put on the 12/13 weeks?

Is the window period differs because of testing generation? What if all clinics/hospitals uses 3rd and 4th Generation would the window period be lessen? If it lessen what will be the right window period?

All but a rare few will seroconvert within the 6 week time frame which is why we consider it HIGHLY RELIABLE but not conclusive.  The CDC is conservative in thier estimates on the 12-13 week test and we agree with it.  It is there to catch the few who do seroconvert after the 6 week mark.

That, combined with your non risk, is why we say your 6 week test is extremely reliable.  I do NOT expect your test to change at the 13 week point.

They subtracted it was 6 months and in 2001 it was changed to three months. Which you already knew. If you would look at any of the tests used. It says a negative may not be truly negative until 3 months. Do you have a reason to be playing two forums?

Rapid,

My question is about the 12 weeks. I assume that the 12/13 weeks by the CDC has allowances.

AC,

If its rare to serocovert after six weeks, what is the reason?

The virus effects different people different ways.  It is not a cookie cutter virus by ANY means.  The 13 week test is to catch the ones who may happen to be immunosupressed due to chemo or organ transplant patients among other things.  We are talking around 1% will sero after 6 weeks.

Yesterday was my 83-84 days. 12 week. Result negative.

When you say test on the 12 week do you mean finish the 12 week or any day at week 12?

Which test is more accurate the ELISA or other hiv test that relies on visual intepretations?

lumbo,

If you had an hiv antibody test, it was more than likely an ELISA. An ELISA can come in quite a few differnt methods, oral rapid, finger-prick rapid, full blood draw. They all rely on "visual interpretation". They all have to be looked at to be interpreted.

You are conclusively hiv negative. Go forth and use condoms.

Thanks Ann

I read post about 3months neg and they tested again it became pos. Is that true?

I have symptoms at week 11, a non-itching rash on my forearm and back of my thigh near buttocks.

It looks like ringworm but it doesnt itch. I went to a dermatologist and prescribe me antifungal and steroid. But it doesnt itch so why prescribe antifungals? Is there a fungal/ringworm that doe not itch?

I search the internet and my rash also look like granuloma annulare. is granuloma annulare a symptom of hiv?

I also take thyroid medication. Will that affect the test? I also took many years ago radioactive iodine.

Keep going to your dermatologist. This isn't a HIV concern.

No, they will not change your test results even if you tested. You were never at risk.
