Infection trough vagina fluids that could reached my cut
« on: March 25, 2012, 09:38:05 am »
Hi,

A few hours before, having protected sex with a sex worker, I shaved my scrotum and had a 1 small bleeding cut.

Is it possible  to get infected from her vagina fluids that they reach my cut? What worries me the most is the morning after, I had blood stains in my underwear and then I rechecked / stretch my scrotum and still had visible bleeding (which means that the cut did never heal/closed). How much time it takes to a cut like this to become not "accessible" to outside viruses?

Can someone please give me an answer and reply as to my potential risks. Lets suppose HIV infected vaginal fluid covered the area- what are my risks? I am really freacking out.

Luis, you are worrying unnecessarily. HIV is not transmitted in the manner you are concerned about. HIV is a fragile virus. Once exposed to the air they very quickly become non-viable.

And the vaginal fluids which can contain HIV if the woman is positive are far up in the cervical area, not around the area of the vagina from where she would have been secreting fluids during your sexual episode.

There is no need for further concern nor for testing on your part. The only confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. That's it.

Andy,

Thank you so much for your comforting and assertive reply, if you say there is no need for testing then I really have nothing to worry about.

Regards.

Hi Andy,

Sorry to bother you again with this, but this week I have been some symptoms that are scaring me, a lot, to say at least:

1) For 2 days have been extremely tired and for the same period of time and I had joint paints.
2) Strong headache, specially around the eyes
3) Dizziness
4) Loss of appetite - Lost 1 kg in 2 days.
5) Small pain under one  of the armpits but dont feel any bump
6) Constipation and lower abdominal pain when pressed, which is not usual at all to me (went to the doctor did Xray and I do have a lot of stools inside that dont want to come out) But the doctor couldn't explain the cause of it as the blood and urine tests result were normal. Soon, I will do a scan and fezzes analysis.
7) Tongue: - Can it be oral thrush / Chlamydia?
a) I have been feeling burning sensation on it
b) On the back it is very white and it has 2 small eruptions/bumps
c) Mild odor (cheesy style)
d) Some red dots in the front

The thing is, we all know that early symptoms of HIV are changes in the intestinal trait (not always diarrhea) and oral chlamydia that can cause constipation and therefore changes in the intestines. From your perspective and taking into account the symptoms described what do you think? Am I being paranoid? I hope so.

Thank you again!
Luis

Luis,

You have already been told that you have not had a risk for hiv infection.

If you feel unwell, see a doctor. Whatever the problem is, it certainly isn't hiv.

If you're worried about the other, MUCH more easily transmitted STIs, again, see a doctor. As a sexually active adult you should be getting a complete sexual health check up at least once a year anyway.

This isn't an hiv situation.

Hi Ann,

Thank you for your quick reply and for bothering everybody with this again but what was worring me the most is the possibility of having thrush and everything that can mean as an HIV symptom. A

nyway. I will do by best to keep my mind of the HIV idea and try to know why I do have this constipation and tongue symptoms.

All the best and thank you again (Andy and Ann) for all the clarifications, you are really doing an excellent job here in the forum.

Regards,
Luis

Even if you have thrush, that is absolutely not an HIV symptom specifically.

How about "trying to know why ....this constipation and tongue symptoms" by discussing them with your doctor instead of just running it all around in your head?

This is not an HIV situation. Period.

Hi Andy,

Yes, I am already investigating the constipations causes along with my Gastrointestinal doctor. Soon I will have a abdominal scan and fezzes analysis in order to try to  uncover its causes. After Ann's reply Ive already moved my mind away from any HIV thoughts.

Once again thanks for all the clarifications.

All the best,
Luis

You're welcome. Nothing you are reporting symptomatically is suggestive of HIV.
