Advice please
« on: August 31, 2013, 05:26:50 pm »
Hey all,

First want to thank all of you out there who help/assist/provide for those seeking. I have read through a few posts so I think I know the answer I'm going to get but I'm making myself go insane over worrying. Any additional info or reasoning would be great.  Here is my story.

Dated a girl for 2 years. We had protected sex every time except once and it was for 5 seconds until I realized it was so dumb. That 1 incident was over a year ago. We also had unprotected oral numerous times throughout the 2 years. When we broke up I figured I wanted to get tested for std and HIV just for like a clean start. Everything came back negative which was awesome.

My only concerns now is that it was only 24 days since our last unprotected oral once I got the test. I know the window period is 3 months. It had been over 8 weeks since the last protected sex. I'm not worried about the one unprotected incident as it was over a year ago and I had a negative test. I believe the test was a rapid blood one as they took a tube and found results that day.

Does anyone see a reason why I should get tested again because of the unprotected oral?

If somehow she would have had it, I would have already (most likely) have gotten it through oral is what I try to tell myself.

Thanks for anyone who can give me advice. I'm sure it seems silly to some but any help is greatly appreciated.

I see no reason for you to get retested. Oral sex does not constitute a valid HIV risk.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."
