Switching to Tivicay + Descovy
« on: July 22, 2017, 02:26:45 pm »
Maybe this is in the wrong section, but i need to kind of vent.

So, I talk to my doctor about switching from Genvoya because I believe it's exacerbating my insomnia and constipation by interacting with another medication I take.  He suggests Triumeq and of course, the HLA test that comes with that.  I sugggested we switch to Tivicay and Descovy to avoid the HLA test because that test is only needed for the abacavir in triumeq.  And also, so the change wouldn't be so drastic.  I'm already taking "descovy" as it's a part of the Genvoya.  But I also don't believe in unnecessary tests.  Medical costs are too high as it is and I don't want to contribute to the problem.

Am I overreacting? should I be peeved at my doctor for ordering the HLA test anyway when I'm not switching to Triumeq?

Sorry to hear you are frustrated with the doctor, i can appreciate that feeling.
I've had a few conflicts over the years and its never nice when it regarding your health. Hope you come to a solution and the switch works out for you, are you paying for the test yourself?

I am curious, you want to hold onto the Descovy part of the meds, so I presume that means you figure the problem is with the other Genvoya components? I can understand perhaps somewhat the doctors idea of moving away from anything causing an issue.
