Hi there,

Is there any ways that i can get rid the HIV antibody? Can plasmapheresis does the job?

If it is possible, would it be dangerous if my body has no hiv antibody even when my VL is undetected and strong cd4 count?

For job purpose, i need to get tested negative... otherwise :'(

Please help me.

Thank you so much!

Hiya

Look no drugs you are going to take or UD status will alter the fact you have HIV or prevent a reactive result on an Elisa test. HIV antibodies are for life and no medication or treatment will make them go away.

As for plasmapheresis no idea how you would have access to this, for a number of reasons I don't see this working it only filters certain antibodies but it would not completely remove them from your body, also regardless of UD viral blood load your body would still produces antibodies in reaction to the tissue and reservoirs HIV levels.

In short you would still test reactive

What kind of job is it that your applying for and are you sure that a reactive result would be a nogo for the employment?

Look even the "Berlin patient" Timothy Brown had some reactive results post cure, negative DNA/RNA results and although decreasing over time post cure of HIV-specific Ab levels it was still reactive for quite some time.

So if even the only person ever to be cured still had reactive results long post the cure than its safe to say nothing you can do will even come close it this result.

I do hope you mange to get the job your applying for and again I wonder if you are sure a reactive result is an automatic turn down?

Hi,

As stated by Jim, antibodies last al life long, so as long as you are still alive, the antibodies are there and test for ELISA will be active no matter which generation or how many tests are conducted.

For job purposes, you may consider another truthful fact, that ELISA also can give a false positive results. Having said so, it will always give a false positive hence the need for another confirmatory test, which in your case can be the DNA which will be Undetectable.

Wishing you the best,
Prince

Hi Prince,

So i declare myself that im not a hiv+ and insist them to do viral load test?

Im not sure whether they will accept that but anyway i think that is better than nothing.... ill try...

Thanks for your suggestion!

Sorry to hear that. You never know visa requirements can change, it was not that long ago that going to the USA as a person living with HIV was complicated, maybe one Singapore will relax things.

I do doubt the visa agency wil run an expensive RNA or DNA test over an application and odds are it wil stil show detected just too low to quantify

UD test results normal stil have a detectable for HIV but not quantifiable ". Meaning its detected just below the copies that the test can be measure, This is called undetectable Iabs , its not a totally accurate description I suppose

Hi my friend,

I'm sorry to hear your story. Especially it involved with job opportunities and your life dream. However I wish to share my story with you, as we share similar misfortunes.

I for one was first detected when I was applying for job permit in Singapore too. The immigration officer and HR of the company made it clear that I could not work in the country anymore. That was in year 2012 or 2013.

Maybe you can check from the link above and seek the info you need.

I wish you all the best. Whatever future career you seek, I hope you found the suitable job.

Take care.

Well, while only certain antibodies last life long, I'm not sure if you'll be able to fool the test in any way.

Im sorry. I know its frustrating, but even for those whose active antibodies dissipate over time, it takes long time for this to occur.

And while I dont normally agree with defrauding any government, especially one as strict as Singapore, if this really means that much to you, I would do as someone suggested.
When the antibody teste comes back positive, ask for an RNA test. Not a DNA test, because your viral reservoir is compromised of DNA.

Hopefully the RNA test is used for confirmation as their standard protocol anyway.

Best of luck to you and keep us informed!

I don't think that there's a way of cheating an HIV test, and if there was, I'm not sure that the best way of dealing with your job situation is to go that route.

I don't know where you are, but in my country, the jobs that require an HIV test are the ones where you might be exposed, or might expose others to any of the infectious body fluids. Hence, it will be extremely irresponsible to put other people at risk of infection simply because you seem unable to find a job that doesn't require an HIV test.

Another reason for that requisite might be due to the side effects of the medication. Some jobs require you to operate machinery, or to be 100% alert, and medication side effects sometimes doesn't allow that. Again, if you lie and are under HIV meds, you might be putting yourself and others at risk.

There was a thread just like this one in the Spanish section. I replied the same way. I'm not sure if you are the same person, but you might get better support if you give details about what kind of job requires you to get an HIV test.

It is a sad reality that we all, those living with HIV, have to deal with, not being qualified to do work that we could do if we wouldn't place ourselves or others at risk.

Sorry to hear about that :'(

I dont know why singapore still restrict foreign workers with HIV. Of all countries i thought Singapore government shouldve come to an understanding that HIV treatment is highly effective nowadays. Putting such law will only promote stigmatization.

having hiv is one thing, losing my mother, my relationship, my pet, and now my job... sometimes im strong to face all of these, sometimes i give up... suicide thought always lingering in my mind... but i always told myself that i need to be strong...

i will not cheat if i have a choice... this is something that will change my life...  fyi... to get a work permit in singapore, you need to get tested regardless what is the job type... for the job that im applying, i dont think im putty risk to others, as my adherence to my medicine is quite good, i achieved undetectable viral load in just 1 month of medical consumption, and my cd4 is stable...

Hi Jim,

May i know why do you think Plasmapheresis or Immunoadsorption or immunosuppression will not work?

I thought it will filter out all plasma in blood and inject the plasma from a donar....

Im wondering, let say if somehow i manage to filter out all antibody through whatever technique, under below condition:
1. UD VL
2. dormant virus still exists
3. HART treatment intake for both plasma recipient and donor

Will my immune system still create antibody?

I read that there are some small group of hiv+ people that tested negative after years of taking medicine, is it true? if yes, do you know anyone from this forum?

Thank you!

No matter what you do you will still test positive. Your body would still produces antibodies in reaction to the tissue and reservoirs HIV levels.

UD blood levels with AVR's does not change this, removing the plasma and filtering does not change this and besides that you don't filter the entire body blood supply either, you can't donor replace your entire blood supply and run down the road quickly for a hiv test to collect a false negative either etc etc etc

Even if you take the extreme once only so far cured guy still had reactive results for a good while.

Look even the "Berlin patient" Timothy Brown had some reactive results post cure, negative DNA/RNA results and although decreasing over time post cure of HIV-specific Ab levels it was still reactive for quite some time.

I wish you well but thinking up extreme ways to falsely HIV tests is not only wishful thinking and a waste of your time but its also probably borderline attempted fraud / criminal if you attempt it or at least were getting into speculation close to it

Unless you have an identical twin, I can't see any way of getting around the situation.

Even if you did, the whole thing is fraught with difficulty once you are there, especially if you had a need for medical attention due to your condition.

I'm not in the least bit surprised that Singapore is one of the countries that takes a hard line. They are not known for being particularly forward thinking or progressive in many ways, including draconian laws when it comes to sexual preference or expression.

If asia is the direction you want to head, there are countries where it isn't a problem but I'd probably strike Singapore from your list, just as I'd strike many countries in the middle-east off. Just not worth the risk.
