Hey all,

Some folks have been asking so I thought I would post a little thread about my meds.

The Lexiva is working beautifully, so far as I know. I have had no side effects at all. Nor any from the Norvir.

My stomach is back to its happy self thanks to Protonix.

So, all is well so far. I will probably need to get labs done this month. I don't remember when I had my last labs done, but its been a while.

Mark, I'm glad your meds are working for you.  What is Protonix?  I've never heard of it.  Does it help deflate lipo?

Hey Bettty,

No, I wish Protonix did deflate lipo, but, alas, no such luck.

Protonix is a proton pump inhibitor, like Prilosec, but stronger. Works great, no acid reflux, no acid indigestion (which was constant without it) and I can eat pretty much what I like without too much trouble.

Makes me a happy camper.

Oh, darn, I thought I might learn about a new thing that could help get rid of my belly that maybe Medicare would cover. :D  Glad it's working for your indigestion, as I know that was a concern for you.

Current Meds ; Viramune / Epzicom Eliquis, Diltiazem. Pravastatin 80mg, Ezetimibe. UPDATED 2/18/24
 Tested positive in 1985,.. In October of 2003, My t-cell count was 16, Viral load was over 500,000, Percentage at that time was 5%. I started on  HAART on October 24th, 2003.

 As of Oct 2nd, 2023, Viral load Undetectable.
CD 4 @676 /  CD4 % @ 18 %
Lymphocytes,absolute-3815 (within range)

Umm. I have acid reflux so bad lately, and I know its not the truvada nor the noviar.
Its you new meds rezataz. oops forgot the spelling.

If just switching to protonix, then I am changing my meds.
I have reflux acid bigtime.

They told me I was only allowed  to take pepcid..which does nada....I was on prilosec
but was taken off when my drug regime changed......... :'( Iam not happy about this
one bit..

I will talk it over when I see my doctor which is monday.

Anyway,I am so glad that you are feeling good with your new meds. ;D you deserve

Hey Ubotts,

That is exactly why I talked to my doc about switching from Reyataz to Lexiva. Pepcid failed me miserably and I needed my Protonix.

I would certainly talk to your doc about it were I you.

Hi there, I  can not take protoniix due to being allergic to batrium...damn..I did read your post
and after I did I called my dr. to see if I can switch like you did..but no good for me..
So who knows what they will switch the reyataz to...someone suggested it might be the norvir..but I believe its the reyataz doing the acid reflux harm to my belly,...

Ill post back later on today and let you know what the doctor recommended..
Damn I was so happy to see your post and find out how to stop the acid but when I called
my dr..She said No good for me............boo freggin hoo.....Just my luck lately..
Hopefully we will discuss and find out what works for me..
WIsh i wasnt allergic to batrium...that would of helped alot...Its the sufates that i am allergic to...anyway ..wish me luck one more time. :-\

Ok went back to doctors, and was put on Lexiva...Phew (wiping the sweat off my brow)
I know i am allegic to batrium and this has some in it, but I said lets take a shot at it, and now i am on norvir truvada and lexiva...
So far so good, but i only started yesterday....
I was able to get previcad again, thank god, but I dont think ill be needing as much as I did when I was on reyataz...

Mixing coctails can be very interesting....Lets hope this on does the trick to a few years.

Hi,

Glad to hear that your meds are doing well for you. What is Protonix? Is it a liquid or a pill and how meny times a day do you take it? My stomach is not a happy camper most of the time and that makes things more complicated with the Diabetes.

Hey Daf,

Protonix is a proton pump inhibitor that reduces the amount of stomach acid your stomach produces. It works wonders for me. It is similar to Prilosec, but somewhat stronger.
It is a diamond shaped pill that you take once a day. I take mine in the morning.

Like Ubotts I am alergic to Bactrum. So I guess that this drug is of the list for me too. Oh wellmayb I will just keep using my stand buys. Ginger, Saltines, Cal Betten ( bismuth tablets ). Thanks for the info and the Hug.

Hey you have to get this it just might help your stomach and throat from all the acid we bring right back up after meals, or even at timetime..infact anytime.lol..

This is what the nutritionist gave me yesterday..L-GLUTAMINE 500 MGS

Hey all,

I did some research but cannot find any link between Bactrim and Protonix. They are vastly different drugs for vastly different problems.

Before I would write proton pump inhibitors off, I would check into them further.

Daf, If you are interested in trying a proton pump inhibitor, there are several out there: Prilosec, Protonix, Nexium, just to name those that popped to mind.

I would ask your doc about them, were I you.
