:P
Vacation is over ! :'( It's time to go back to work. Ed asked me if there was anything special I wanted to do on my last day of vacation.
I said, how about helping me put together a resignation letter, and I will turn it in tonight, at work ::)
His reply, One year from today we"ll start putting that letter together. Seems like such a long way off.
It was a great vacation, and seemed to have lasted longer than two weeks. The AMG didn't last long enough..
OOhhh,.... It's going to be a tough night tonight ! I know I am going to have a lot of work to catch up on.

Yeah, I had to hit the ground running, too.
Glad you and your hubby are home safe and sound, Ray.

I like to refer to the return to work after vacation as "re-entry". Similar to space vehicles when they re-enter the earth's atmosphere -- they get consumed by fire, unless they have a heat shield.

Very true...
I came back to work to more work piled up and my boss just went out of town for the next week and a half and delegated me to be in charge - so now I have my work, her work, and the crying attitudes of my coworkers --- who always seem to catch a bit of an attitude with me when she delegates me to be in charge and not them....... I think some know that I am being prepped to assume her role when she retires in 2014.... so I get a mixed bag of the attitude and the "kissing up."
Whenever I take an out of town vacation, I always try to take a day or two on the back end to be home to get ready to go back to work (I so try to avoid the stress of returning to work that I have a habit of checking my work email even when I am away on vacation --- sickening, I know)
Ray - I am so with you on the wanting to retire/resign.... heck, I've been working since I was 12 years old... I think it is about time for some "me" time LOL..... And I still have about 16 years or so to go until I can retire... unless I hit the Powerball tonight.

Phil,
Your post, on several points, could have been written by me.
I haven't gone on vacation yet this year but am looking forward to a rest after checking my hefty leave accrual today.
Our department head is also away for a week and a half and I am in charge. The difference in my case is that everyone is relieved when the department head is not there and we can get more work done. In fact, my staff reached a major project milestone today. I even heard one young lady yell "Thank you Jeebus!" ;D
Talking about working from a youngster, I have been working since the age of 5 (starting on my family's farm). I hope to retire in about 6 years (or sooner if get the Power(ball)) ;)
