Interesting read and I agree that more holistic care including a focus on mental health is needed in the field of HIV care. My concerns for UK & Ireland and the future is less specialised care and more burden placed on HIV treatment though GP's instead who to honest are no up to the current task (if you ask me) let alone an additional focus on mental health

HIV treatment plans must also nourish individuals’ mental and spiritual well-being.

Anyone can have problems with mental health. But, according to the National Institutes of Health, people living with HIV have higher rates of mental health conditions than the general public. Among other issues, individuals with HIV may feel depressed, anxious, hopeless and not in control of their lives. A wellness plan that includes a focus on mental health support can tackle these matters and help improve overall well-being.

I totally agree that mental health is needed as part of the treatment.  I'm eating the best that I can, reduced the amount of beer I drink, take my Rx's when needed and contact my ID and PCP doctor's when I have questions.  Mentally is the last part I need to start dealing with.

A year prior to my Dx I shut off any emotions that my body will produce and I know it isn't good.  One of these days I'll start dealing with it.

But I was at the gym today and they had a display setup for natural remedies (i.e oils).  I was thinking of signing up for fee samples but was worried how they would interact with my Rx's.  I am thinking some natural herbs and oils would probably help as I'm not getting as many nutrients as I should be getting with my diet.

I just see the holistic approach being beneficial and will need to read up more on it.  Just glad you posted this article today.

Kentfrat, you already are doing at least two good things, maybe three for your mental health, you've just categorised them as physical health issues.

Cutting back on alcohol (and other drugs) is a biggie as is getting lots of exercise, I'm guessing you have some soocial interaction with your gym mates too.
