Hi Team,

I have been reading POZ forum almost everyday for last 2 months and it has been grateful to have forum like this with knowledgeable advisers.

My scenario:
I have visited a massage parlour on 31-Jan-2017 and have received blowjob (Insertive Oral sex, i.e my penis in her mouth) from parlour lady for 3 times during the massage and all the Blowjob episode hardly not more than 2 mins and no Vaginal or no Anal course and nothing else apart from blowjob. Till now, i have not got any major symptoms and only symptom was testicle pain after 3 weeks of exposure (i.e, 20-Feb-2017) and it lasted for 5 days and gone after using few medications, and i did MRI scan for abdomen and testicles and result came out normal. In addition to this, i have taken HIV test at 4 weeks, 7 weeks & 10 weeks using ELISA method (HIV-1 & HIV-2)...all are negative. But, every day i am in lot of Anxiety and stress after seeing different websites saying, Oral sex is low risk but not risk free. Some of the well known websites like thebody.com & sexualhealth.com where the expert doctor says there are few documented cases of HIV infections from Oral sex and this has been scaring me sometimes. But when i come here(POZ) and read the archive forums where it says Receiving Oral sex is not a risk for HIV then i am bit calming my self. I am not sure of panicking my self is just because of lacking of HIV knowledge about Oral sex or something else. I would be really...really...grateful if you can give some reassurance on my below questions.

1. Giving Oral sex is not a risk for HIV or Receiving (Insertive..i.e penis in mouth) Oral sex is not a risk for HIV?
2. Have you ever seen any infected case from Receiving Oral sex?
3. is my 4 week, 7 week & 10 week negative result is conclusive? and do i really need to test at 12 weeks?
4. How accurate the ELISA HIV test at 4,7 & 10 weeks?
5. I am from India and what would be the window period for conclusive test in India (If you have any data on this)?

Sorry for long story, but since this is my first post wanted to explain in detail. Highly appreciate your efforts and looking forward for your valuable answers.

Hi

Look i don't care or can comment on what others say. Every man and his dog has a website and most of them are utterly paranoid.

I hate sites that list oral as a risk, oral covers so many sins and is very unspecific.

Giving a BJ carriers a theoretical risk, as you are in contact with semen, however even than it needs additional conditions as the mouth is hostile and without damage does not have the cells or route for HIV to infect. So even for giving a BJ we tell people no need to panic test as normal at least yearly.

In terms of BJ's there hasn’t been a single documented case of HIV transmission to an insertive partner (the person being "sucked") and you will not be the first, as getting your penis sucked is not a HIV risk, saliva is not infectious, it also contains over a dozen elements that neutralize HIV.

Now you had no risk end of story so move on with your life, no drama required.
There is nothing more we can do for you here.

Question 5, answer = If you ever do have a real risk its the same as anywhere else in the world, 3 months.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:
Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, every time, no exceptions.

Keep in mind that some sexual practices which may be described as ‘safe’ in terms of HIV transmission might still pose a risk for transmission of other STI's, so please do get fully tested regularly and at least yearly for all STI's including but not limited to HIV and test more frequently if unprotected intercourse occurs

Also note that it is possible to have an STI and show no signs or symptoms and the only way of knowing is by testing.

More information on HIV Basics, PEP, TaSP and Transmission can be found through the links in my signature to our POZ pages, this includes information on HIV Testing

Kind regards

Jim

Many thanks for the Quick Reply Jim. Few more questions below;

1. The lab technician where i have tested last time, they were telling i need to repeat the test at 3 months and then at 6 months as the Antibody test will not pickup until 6 months. Not sure, how true it is?

2. Except the above Oral exposure, i never had any exposure in my life. Are you sure i do not need to panic for any more testing and i can continue sex with my wife without any worries?

3. Have you ever seen any test result at 10 weeks changing at 12 weeks?

Sorry if my anxiety brings more stupid questions to you, but it really give great assurance.

I've asked and answered all the questions already.
You had no risk, no need to test for HIV. Move on now if you ever do have a risk than test at 3 months for a conclusive negative result.

As for you wife, see my first post. Use condoms for intercourse, no exceptions and test at least yearly as routine for HIV and also easier to transmit STI's.

Hi Jim, I never had any relationship (except the above Oral exposure) with others except my wife and i will never be. So, do you still want me to use condoms during sex with my wife even if i do not have any relationship with strangers? Your statement using condoms for intercourse during sex with my wife is worrying me again  :(. Kindly advise.

Yeah use condoms with your wife.

Its not a monogamous relationship and I have no idea what risks she is taking and neither do you. Unprotected intercourse is the primary infection route for HIV infection  and HIV can not transmit through an intact condom,  so use them! It also reduces risks for many easier to transmit STI's.
