Must Watch: THE OTHER SIDE OF ASPEN Gay Porn Documentary

http://queermenow.net/blog/must-watch-the-other-side-of-aspen-gay-porn-documentary/

My inheritance, when my gay uncle died, was getting his porn collection.  I have this porn.  Gotta love old porn.

Modified:

I wonder if they address HIV/AIDS in the documentary?  Many of these were shot in the early 80's, when much hysteria was rampant.  I've always been surprised they were still going bareback, seemingly not concerned.  To not discuss that in the doc would be really avoiding a huge part of what was happening.  I often wonder how many of these performers were infected and how many are no longer with us.  Perhaps they discuss that.

On a side note, it is interesting to see they difference in body types from the first to the last sequel.  Naturally toned in the beginning to gym bodies with tatts in the last.  They say the owner wanted only blondes in some of the earlier films and in the last a blonde couldn't be found.

I suspect that AIDS wasn't mentioned at that time.  In the early eighties Aids was sort of thought of as a myth, or a lie of some governing body trying to control peoples sex lives.  Only the weird or crazy wore condones.

If I recall correctly, bareback porn continued for a few years after HIV and rules of safesex were understood.  It took a while for American porn companies to get on board but they did eventually become models of responsible behavior.  Falcon remained steadfast even when bareback porn came roaring back, first from Europe, over 10 years ago.  Right?
I wouldn't call that clip exactly a "documentary" but I thought it was an interesting trip down memory lane and I remember those Aspen videos with "fondness", as well as all the early to mid 80's Falcon bareback porn...

Carnt say that I didn't like it, even though I'm not a big fan of the Scissor Sisters (I seriously hated that song "I Don't Feel Like Dancing").

Trey, your new sig line should be "Mabel, Mabel, set the table.  Don't forget the red hot pepper!"  ::)

What do you think of Lana Del Rey? I first saw her sing live on television and was not impressed. Then I listen to the production and arrangement on her album and was hooked.

same thing. ;) saw her and didn't think much; but once I listened to the disc, I was impressed.

except for that damned kiki song, :D I like the scissors disc a bunch too - a lot more than their previous one.

now it's time to give the Smashing Pumpkins Oceania a listen

There was a lot of buzz around her long before the SNL debacle.  It's a shame that so many people have ignored her music because of that performance.  She's actually very good.  I really like her single and video for "Born to to Die" (and "Video Games" was nice as well).

The Keep, rather rare Michael Mann sci-fi horror movie
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1aw-rlZbQQ

Still not on DVD.  Creepy and dreamy.  Tangerine Dream!  Ian McKellan plays an interesting role where he reverse ages and he's so handsome young!  Scott Glenn was ruggedly beautiful too.

I'm going to read the book now, its supposed to be better and quite different than the film:

Any other unknown gems to recommend:
