Please, please can anyone help, I got really drunk 2 weeks ago and tried to have unprotected sex with a women, I didn’t manage to get a full erection and therefore didn’t penetrate her although I did try a couple of time but couldn’t get it up as I was so drunk, a week later a got a uti infection, they tested for sti’s but all was clear, now I’m terrified I may have hiv because of the uti infection.
I have had no other symptoms but I’m still worried sick I can’t sleep I keep waking up with panic attacks and now contemplating suicide I am so frightened please can anyone help!!

The incident you described wasn't a risk for HIV and you need not test over this specific incident .

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but HIV is forever.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED FURTHER HIV TESTING AT THIS TIME, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care checkup, including but not limited to HIV testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine checkups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine HIV tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than HIV. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid HIV infection. It really is that simple!

I still can’t understand why I got the UTI though, my penis tip was brushing against her vagina and anus, and the tip slightly went up but came out as my erection failed, this went on for about 5 to ten minutes before I came to my senses and ran off, I still can’t believe what I have done! I didn’t plan it; I didn’t want it, it just happened I was really, really drunk I know it’s no excuse, I was suffering from depression as I had just lost my business weeks previous had to lay off all of my staff which was a real heart ache, some of which were friends and family, I’ve lost all of my money my house and have subsequently started to drink rather heavily and am convinced this suicidal act has given me hiv.

You don't have to have sex to get UTI, as Jeff advised you, you never had an exposure and if you are having suicidal tendencies, then seek professional mental help.

Hi Jay ... I agree with Rod , if you feel like you might want to harm yourself then go to the emergency room or call a family member or a friend .

Its clear that you need a therapist or counselor to help you through this difficult time in your life . I feel for you but there isn't any thing else I can do for you because your problems are not related to HIV .

HIV isn't one of the things you are dealing with , that has to be of some comfort . Im wishing you the best of luck .

You have NOT had a risk for hiv infection.

UTIs are caused by bacteria - not hiv. Bacterial infections are MUCH more easily transmitted and you could have gotten bacteria (quite possibly E.coli) from her anal area into your urethra. The anal area can be rich in bacteria if the area isn't washed regularly.

What you engaged in is normally referred to as frottage (rubbing genitals together or rubbing genitals on other parts of the body without penetration) and frottage is NOT a risk for hiv infection.

Hiv is a fragile, difficult to transmit virus that is primarily transmitted INSIDE the human body, as in unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse where the virus never leaves the confines of the two bodies.

Once outside the body, small changes in temperature, and pH and moisture content all quickly damage the virus and render it unable to infect. For this reason, frottage is not a risk as frottage does not involve penetration and therefore takes place OUTSIDE the body.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!!! Read through the condom and lube links in my signature so you can use condoms correctly and with confidence.
