Title: alcohol and meds
Post by: next2u on November 28, 2010, 12:08:32 am
hello...

im going out drinking tonight for my first time since starting meds. also my first time since vegas..for those of you that remember  ;D

i'm not sure if i should take my atripla before, after or during my drinking binge. right now im leaning more towards after the drinking spectacle comes to an end but i'm afraid i may forget....im a bit of a lush. id like to try taking them an hour or two before but i am concerned and don't have enough time to test the waters.

any thoughts?

best,
d

I'd go with before, that way you don't have to worry about forgetting.  Where are you staying?  I was just in Vegas.  Have a good time!

Hahaha. Well, Next2u..

I am on my twentieth or twenty first night of Atripla. In the last week I have had several colleagues and friends in from out of town and such and have been eating and drinking, ehm, the occasional beer and wine and bourbon. Even tonight. All I have to say is that I drink plenty of water and stop about two to three hours before taking my med and I have been sleeping like a baby and waking up feeling fine. Of course it is not my place to preach, but it is common sense not to go over board with the booze while on the meds. Ya know.

I would probably have still been indulging if I wasn't on Atripla which maybe a blessing in disguise!

Have fun!!!

Me and Atripla didn't mix well.  The biggest fallouts were usually related to my desire to drink copious amounts of alcohol.

I hope you have a much better relationship with that combo, than I did!

If you think you might forget take it before.

I take mine before, during and after - have never had any adverse effects - of course, I've heard some say that can't do it that way... biggest effect I got was from drinking too much, not from the med. ;D

Hope you had/have a great time!

I like to have a cocktail and sit in the hot tub for a while in the evenings. Since I started I haven't had a drink. Let me know how it works out for you.

I combined my cocktail of 15 pills with champagne, rum and lines of coke the other night.  Oh, and a slice of carrot cake and reruns of the A-List.

There was also a Puerto Rican guy there with me. ::) ;D

The next day I had explosive-D and thus lost 10 lbs. over the holidays, instead of gaining weight like the rest of you.  I was also wearing Dior.

Bad coke can do that to a body. ;D

I wash mine down with vodka & coke at times and have not had a problem.

Get those pills in you before you get smashed.

Actually it was fairly good, but regardless I didn't pay for any of it.  I think it had more to do with my not eating much that entire day.

I've taken all my meds with white zin, and have for 20 years.  Not every time of course, but quite often.  My doctor has always indicated that it was whatever I could tolerate, and it doesn't interfere with the drugs.
