I just LOVE MOJITOS!!!!!
« on: August 18, 2007, 04:35:25 pm »
I am here at home, on my way to work in 1 hour and just made myself a nice mojito.....

For those of you that dont know how to make a mojito...

Grab 10-12 mint leaves, and sugar, muddle it with a spoon until mint is crushed, then add 3/4 of a lime (juiced), ice, rum, and top off with club soda....

Youll love it trust me.....they are addictive....

I actually made mint infused syrup so the sugar dissolves better :-D....i honestly dont know why im a waiter and not a bartender...

Josh, I motored to my hometown yesterday and turned into my old street, and for the first time in 2 years, I pulled into my old neighbour's driveway instead of the one I used for 35 years.  My mum sold the house two years ago and moved across the state, and now she is visiting Martha, the neighbor, and they demanded I visit them. As I walked in the house, Martha of course had Fox News on the TV, and updates on the hurricane.  I saw where it was, and immediately thought of you!  As the afternoon wore one, and we visited, and drank, and got barbeque, and drank, I finally dragged out my laptop only to discover...my hometown is not wireless! I've been worrying about you for 24 hours!

Now, of course, that I am home, connected, and reading about you mixing a mojito before work, I am, of course, relaxed, and am not at all concerned about what a fussbudget I've become in my middle age.

You're young.  You can swim.

Cheers!

I always wondered what was in a Mojito and now that one commercial makes sense. You know the one with the bartender and the folks in the club. When he stops mixing they stop dancing. It sounds yummy but it would be a no no for me with the sugar since I am diabetic. Shame on you going to work tipsy....Why don't you change jobs and become a bartender? Sounds like it may be your calling...

He's young, let him have a cocktail before work.  Lord knows (and witnessed) me showing up to work after an all-night X-run to Dallas, deciding to do mushrooms in Waco at noon, and me showing up way before my quaint bookstore shift started at 3pm, and then I had to DJ at a club that night at 9...

Akasha, PLEASE!

What I do? Well, you're both better than me, I couldn't go to work after a night like the one you had Basquo, I would've called off.

Modified to add: "Akasha, Please!".....I only hear those words from men I have slept with...... ;) You trying to tell me something?

My friend Chuck who recently died was a big fan of the Mojito. He was never happier than when making up a big pitcher of Mojitos to serve us at summertime parties. In fact his lover Chris made sure they were served at Chuck's memorial service. I sure do miss him.

Everything Old is New Again ..Ive been a Mojito ho for quite some time and just had to shake my head in pity when Bacardi started running those commercials., God Knows there are going to be  a zillion  mostly Bad variations concocted by bottle spinning lime wedge juggling cherry tossing ass Clown Bartenders from South Beach to the Jersey Shore.  I once had a particularly bad specimen in Miami made in a blender with Creme de Menthe  as a shortcut. reminded me of NYQuill.

The only acceptable variation Ive run into is to use brown sugar, but the mint syrup sounds like a nice touch... unfortunately our Florida drought has rendered my mint patch little more than Minty Fresh Potpourri... and my backup crop around the mailbox has been pissed on by every Cur on the block.   Global warming Sucks.
