Other NON-PI Drug Treatment Options?
« on: December 03, 2011, 01:54:08 pm »
I would just like to ask about what some alternative first-line treatment options are today. First, what is the status of the so-called Quad pill? Is it being prescribed yet? I would not opt for a PI regimen, I have been on Atripla and it has worked very well thus far for me, although there has lately been some indications of resistance. What other non-PI treatment options are there, that would not have significant side effects? Thanks!

If there is resistance only a resistance test will tell you what you are able to take.

Truvada/Isentress
Truvada/Rilpivirine (Complera)
Truvada/Selzentry

You say there is "indications of resistance.". Yet your viral load is undetectable in your signature line.  What is this "indication?". Again if there is resistance deciding what to switch to before a resistance test is pointless.

The quad pill should be approved for treatment in the first quarter of 2012 (assuming the FDA approves it).

What's the problem with a PI-based med regimen?
