treatment approaches

Hi gang!  I just met with my naturopathic physician this morning. (I beat hep-b under her care and direction earlier this year.) I feel really good about the plan at this point.  I was diagnosed 2 weeks and 3 days ago and the path of healing i am starting out with begins here:  to use naturopathic support to my immune system.  I have my first appt. with my hiv specialist on Jan. 22nd.  I see the two approaches as complimenting each other.  Well, at least this is where I am starting.  My NP said several things to me this morning that inspired me.   She told me the love of the man who is the Love of my Life and my spirituality will be the two most powerful forces in my healing journey.  In this realm nothing is impossible and nothing is unsurmountable.  Welcome to all the other new initiates like myself and always my gratefuls to you folks who have been around for your wisdom and encouragement.     Rick in Central Oregon.

Welcome, Rick.  I have been around the hiv community long enough to have observed lot's of approaches which made sense to others.  I am glad that you have started an approach and hope that you will keep an ear and an eye open.  Best, Win

Good luck with it.  But remember the tried and true method, HAART.  Please keep your regularly scheduled HIV/ID doc appointments and have your lab work done just as often.  I'm not big on using natural remedies, alone, to conquer HIV.  But I suppose it doesn't hurt using it to supplement traditional HIV treatment.  Of course, that assumes the treatment doesn't interfere with HIV drugs, which some can.

Welcome! I love it when Spirituality confirmations take place. The nurse was absolutely right. Your love of your life is the main rock of your support system as we ALL need this in our lives and your Spirituality WILL carry you indefinitely through it ALL on your Journey in this life.

Please DO feel free to interact with the others as there is so much for us to share with each other, it is exciting.

Thanks gang for your support and encouragement!  Man, this is a great place!

I didn't mean to imply that I was going to rely primarily on naturopathic support. It is just the place to start.   I have my first appt. in 3 weeks with an MD who I have been told is the best hiv specialist in the area.  She wasn't taking new patients so I feel really fortunate to be able to have her as my treating physicin.

Naturopathy and traditional western medicine use different approaches which can compliment each other.  This worked for me before with hep-b as I am now negative for this disease and my liver functions are normal.  I really liked it that yesterday when I met with my naturopath (she is a doctor of naturopathy) that instead of prescribing anything right off the cuff she told me she would develop a plan of care first and then call me to come back in to go over it with me first.  Her approach is very much strengths-based to identify physical, emotional, social and spiritual strengths and to support those.

Wow!  I just got a phone call from my hiv specialist just to introduce herself and to go over some labs with me that were done last week by my primary care physician to make sure there was appropriate follow up, which there was.  I dont have my first appt. with her until Jan.22nd so she does not even know me yet.  I can't tell you how impressed I was with her.

I did not forget.

Truly, it is a diffcult health condition to accept. However, it is strongly recommended that you Deal rather than Dwell on what has occurred as this will HELP you tremendously. To get you started, there is a link on the main homepage of this site that will HELP you find your local ASO in your area.

The Handshake Of Reassurance

With the consideration of implementing a Positive Mental Attitude, it will also assist you on your journey in this life as well as having a Positive Impact on your immune system and your overall health.

With your Positive Mental Attitude, it will HELP you to push forward through ALL of the obstacles on your path in this life that you are now walking on.

Talking and sharing our experiences with other people helps us see that we are not the only ones with problems. Feel free to come and vent with whatever is on your mind from time-to-time and to interact with the other members.

Often the act of writing and the ability to “SEE” your feelings leads to therapeutic insights and solutions..

In the interim, you may want to start taking a multi-vitamin, and some Omega 3, because it is all up to YOU where YOU want to be.

Exercise at least three times per week for a minimum of 30 minutes per day, as this will do you good to help keep that unnecessary stress away.

Hey Eldon,  a big hug to you for your welcome and caring!  Thankyou, my friend.

You know I dont dwell on being hiv.  It does not define me.  Just before I was daignosed, a man came into my life who changed my world. ( It was because of this relationship I wanted to be tested before it became physical.)   _This_ is the focus of my life.   I have never believed anything has come into my life except for my good. The day i was diagnosed I still held on to this belief.  This defines me more than hiv.
A coincidence that these two events happened so closely in time?  Someone once told me coincidence is simply choreography by God.   How can we ever know joy unless we also know sorrow?"
