Recommendation for NYC HIV/Internist Doctors
« on: May 09, 2009, 06:35:50 am »
once we get my partner through the lymphhoma issue (update: latest PET scan show no cancer after only 4 chemo treatments!), we need to unfortunately leave our HIV doctor for various reasons which I will not get into here.  are there any recommendations for good HIV/general internists in Manhattan?  Would not mind having a doctor NOT affiliated with St. Vincents Hospital but the doctor and the way they run their practice is much more important to us.  any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Look up Dr. David Perlman at Beth Israel.  I found him using New York Magazines list of New Yorks Best Doctors.  Very happy with him.  I got my first appt screwed up and showed up 3 hours late.  It was after  his office hours and he still saw me, took his time and was very easy to talk to and treated me respectfully.  I liked his approach to when to begin meds and all in all, i was very pleased.

If you don't mind a female Dr..I go to Dr Larisa Litvinova in Brooklyn by Grand Army Plaza.  She is the best.  Last time I went she spent a good half hour with me.  Extremely knowledgeable and on the top of her game.  Gone to her for 4 years now and wouldn't ever change if I could help it.

Joe,

Thanks.  Actually have been thinking that I might like a female doctor and, we like in Brooklyn anyhow so that might be very convenient.

Thanks for the tip.

Take at Dr. Eric Neibart.  I love this guy.  He is partners with another great ID doc in his office too....I forget his name Gupenheart or something like that.
He has been in this game since the 80s and my brother in law, as it turns out, knew him and said he really was very good too.  So far, he has been amazing.  Listens, does not rush you out and shows his compassion well.  His knowledge will impress you I think.
He is on the upper east side, 89th and Park.
Good Luck!
