Mutual Masturbation, Fingering and being Uncircumcised
« on: August 09, 2012, 04:16:27 pm »
Hi,

What is the risk for mutual masturbating and fingering when being uncircumised? I had a risk with a high risk woman from Africa. I fingered her vagina for 10 minutes, following by masturbating myself. Not being circumcised, I am afraid that some of her vaginal fluids could have been on my hand and transposed to my penis...

Do I need to test over this?  I have been tested before since this one episode.

Circumcised or not, nothing you are reporting of this incident put you at risk for HIV transmission. HIV is a fragile virus and is not transmitted in that manner.

The ONLY confirmed risks for the sexual transmission of HIV are unprotected vaginal and anal intercourse. That's it. Use condoms properly every time for those activities and you will be well protected. Yes, it is really that simple.

You have no cause for concern this time and no need for HIV testing.

Terry,

You need to understand that there is no such thing as a "high risk woman". People are not high or low or no risk, ACTIVITIES are high or low or no risk. It's not WHO you do, it's HOW you do it. Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse and you won't have a risk regardless of who you are with or if they're hiv positive or hiv negative.

You engaged in a NO RISK activity. Fingering and mutual masturbation are not risks for hiv infection.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST SPECIFICALLY OVER FINGERING, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Thanks, Ann. You have really hit the nail on the head with your response. The issue for me has been the place where the woman is from, not necessarily the activity, so your post is very helpful.  It doesn't help that recently I've come done with bad stomach cramp and diarrhea about day 10 post but I assuming that this is the result of traveling abroad and exposure to stomach viruses/or different foods that I accustomed to.

Terry,

Yep, travel abroad will do that to you. In many countries you're supposed to avoid any water that hasn't been boiled or doesn't come in a sealed bottle, and that includes ice, when brushing your teeth and also fresh fruit or salads that have been washed in local water during prep. Water is the usual culprit.

Whatever is going on has nothing to do with a virus for which you have not been at risk.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!!!

I'm closing this thread down now for good. Thanks for all of your kind words and help. I wish you the best!  And, thanks...
