Welcome to Do I Have HIV?

Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Moderator"s (Rapidrod & Velez), I'm sorry i did not know how to retrevive my old post. So i applogize for starting a new thread. Here is my problem i've had to test done one at 8 weeks and another at 19 weeks both came back negative. Now my doctor did a CBC and found a low count on the WBC. i've had no new exposures of any kind; never any drugs or anything else; my original only exposure was protected sex with pro(not sure about if condom broke was in one piece when i took it off) . Do i need to get myself retested or were the last to 2 test conclusive. I still have a couple of swollen ymph nodes and the covered tongu..Please Advice...

Hi, Guys this for all of you who are really worried....and it goes to show that symptoms are not a good way of looking at things. I just had a 19 week test done came back negative....i'm much more relaxed and still can't believe that i did not get infected....and yet i still have no illness to connect to my swollen nodes. Anyhow this was my post from the last time and i was told by the experts that i didn't have it and sure enough i don't. To tell you the truth i had to have my doctor show me the results....yes he put it in a nice frame for me to hang and look at when i have any doubts... ;D

Anyhow this is what i thought i had experienced....all i have to say is that don't put your self through so much misery it's not worth it all it does it is make you more worried and sick....so here's what i thought i had...Oh lastly  i just want to say thank you very much to Anne and RapidRod...

Hi, a little help please. I've read almost all the threads on the forum now and I'm hoping you'll be as helpful to me. Here is my situation I had sex with a prostitute at the end of jan. Since then i've had almost every symptom that i have read about on the internet. She did oral first with the condom on and i did vaginal with the same condom. After about 2 weeks i something like a paste of white stuff all over my tongue, i just scraped it oof with my teeth and thought nothing of it, at that point i had no other symptoms. Then this is what happened

Week #7
More thrush
Noticed sores in mouth
Not Diareaha (loose stool)
No swollen lymph nodes
Went to doctor (said ear infection prescribed amoxicilin)

Week #8
Hiv Test (Came back Normal week 10)
Night sweats

Week #9 – 10
Dr. Y Test Negative (you are imagining things)
small red dot rash on fore arm

Week #11
Dr. X (Nystain for mouth)
No effect
Night sweats (Drenched)
Swelling, Pain in neck and side of shoulders

Week #12-14
Dr X(Flu - Amoxicilin)
Still pain in nodes both

Week #15
Little swelling & pain in Left side of the neck (today)

I'm so scared....I've been smoking a pack a day and drinking soo much coffee..and i feel really tierd..
Please tell me how reliable my test would have been at 7 weeks, i've been looking at medhelp forum and they 6 weeks is conclusive...

Enjoy your wonderful results.   That's terriffic news.  Maybe cut down on the smoking a little now :)

Ric,

 You never had a risk in the first place. Condoms provide excellent protection against hiv transmission, so it's not surprising that you tested negative. When I say that if you always use condoms you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results, I'm not joking.

Use condoms and avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

Keep your hands off your nodes - you are probably keeping them irritated and swollen by checking them all the time. If they continue to bother you, see your doctor.

You are hiv negative. Use condoms and stay that way.

Yup, i've cut down on the somking...only about 3, 4 a day. I'm also taking a little time of work to give my body time to recover from all the stress. Also stopped looking at the internet for advice on symptoms; cause i think that was what dorve me crazy for a bit. Lastly, the most important lesson learned...use condoms always. Again thank you all for the help.

Ric,

Can I remind you that you You never had a risk in the first place.

Your nineteen week negative is conclusive. You do not have hiv - hardly surprising as you had no risk. Low WBC has nothing to do with hiv. I've had hiv for nearly nine years (not on meds) and my WBC is completely normal and always has been.

Keep your hands off your lymph glands - chances are very good that you are making them swell and keeping them swollen by constantly checking them. If you continue to worry about them, see your doctor.

You are hiv negative and if you cannot move on from this, please seek the assistance of a mental health care professional. There is nothing more we can do for you here.

Thank you for the reassurance. It seems to me that i'm getting adicted to being reassured that i don't have HIV. I talk to someone feel better for a day or 2 and then i'm back to the same thinking pattern. I think you are probably right i should get some help. I know this is going to sound ridiculus but i've actually concieved a theory that my doctor switched the blood when he did my blood test for hiv and that's why it came back neg...Yeah and you are right i've been messing with the nodes; can't seem to stop touching them...Well, i don't think i'm gonna get tested again gonna take you up on your advise and ask my doc to send me for counselling he's also sending me to a ENT for a check of my neck nodes etc. I'm hoping he can shed more light on my illness.
