Oral : help needed
« on: December 13, 2008, 12:58:03 am »
ok, this was what happen, around 17 days ago i recieved unprotected oral sex from a friend. Before this episode, i never had any sexual encounter. What freak me out was that the girl told me she went for gums/teeth polishing in the morning when our encounter was at night. Hence, she had swollen gums when she was giving me unprotected oral sex.

she gave me oral sex twice that night, both short, about 30 seconds, but i am quite sure i did not have any wounds on my penis. Eventually, i jerked off myslef and released in her mouth and she gave my penis one last suck. I asked her, she had 2 sex parthers before and 1 of them is a virgin.

I am sorry for the details, i just want to see how you experts think about this encounter was it risky for HIV. Due to the infomartion i been reading online, i get very afarid at times. It would be good if any experts can help me on this. thanks guys.

Unsure

No, from what you have described you weren't put at risk for HIV.

Please read our welcome thread and follow the lessons on how HIV is and is not transmitted.

You do not need to worry over this incident, but having a full STD check up at least once a year is recommended, and remember when you do become more sexually active and if you agree to have unprotected sex then you run the risk of a possibile infection from all STD's.

Use condoms for anal/vaginal sex at all times...NO EXCEPTIONS.

Thanks Jan, ur words really made me feel much better and relexed, really appreciate it.However, lets say that i want to do a test just to give myself some closure. In my country, it is said that we take a test 1 month after exposure and comfirm status 3 months after the expose again.

May i ask, how accurate is the 1st month testing? any1?
Does it mean when i test negative in the 1st month test, i am most likey safe?

Thanks for helping a troubled teen.

Before you even consider testing over this incident, you need to know some basics. In the entire history of the epidemic there has never been a single case of transmission confirmed of a guy becoming infected by getting oral. Not one. And keep in mind this is one of the most common of sexual activities. Despite your fears and anxiety, you aren't going to make history by becoming the first.

In terms of sexual activities, if you consistently use a condom for either vaginal or anal intercourse you will be well protected as far as HIV is concerned. All of the other activities sexually are risky only in theory. We know from experience that HIV transmission is about unprotected intercourse.

You're just at the beginning of becoming sexually active. That's both exciting and scary too as you are finding out. Take your time and go at the pace that's right for you. And make sure you have condoms and use them when you need to. And use them everytime no matter whom you are with or what you think you know about their status or history.

As for testing, the average time to seroconversion iss 22 days. All but the very smallest number of those who are going to seroconvert will do so within 4-6 weeks after an exposure. Our CDC recommends testing at 13 weeks for a final, conclusive result.

This time you don't even need to get tested.

Cheers.

If both partners had never had intercourse previously then HIV ought not to be an issue UNLESS either had a history of intravenous drug use or been born HIV positive from an HIV mother.

However, in general we do strongly recommend using condoms everytime for intercourse unless it is a relationship which is securely monogamous and both partners have reliably tested negative at the same time.

As to the specific situation you have proposed, you can't pass something you don't have.

OK, let's keep it simple here. Nothing you have reported doing has put you at risk for HIV transmission. Getting oral from your friend even if she had bloody gums is not a risk for transmission. No guy has ever become infected from getting sucked off and you aren't going to make history by becoming the first.

If you have intercourse, whether vaginal or anal, make sure you use a condom everytime, no matter what you think you know of the sexual history of your partner(s). Use a condom. Period.

You have no cause to be concerned about HIV thus far and no need to get tested.

hey guys i been trying my best this past week to not think about this issue. It worked alright. However suddenly i have a question that i am unsure of and wanted to ask u guys.

I see People talking about undectable after months or years, does it mean that if i have hiv without knowing it. And when i become undectable after many years i choose to take the hiv antibody rapid test, i will come out negative, but in fact i am hiv postive?

Erm, just wanted to clarify about the undectable , didnt really get it. THanks

You should not be wandering around in the HIV+ forums and sections as it only feeds your fears.

Someone who is HIV+ will always test positive on an HIV test, even if they are "undetectable" as far as viral load. You are mixing up two separate and distinct issues.

If you test negative at 13 weeks you are HIV negative. Period. HIV is not "hiding undetectable" in your body. Really.

I suddenly remember something that might be a real risk, around 2 years ago, i had my ear pieced, wanting to change the stud to a ear stick i took it out, but my ear hole couldnt fit in, so my friend used his ear stick to forced it through my ear, so the wound should be still fresh. so it could be dangerous? Plus i lost weight and got thinner by the next year.

Sometime this year, i shared ear studs with my sister. Risk for me and her? but this time my ear hole was seasoned already. And i remember  getting real sick sometime this year too. high fever for 2 to 3 days. but forgotten was it before or after sharing.

I kind of put the oral exposure aside after my fren got tested negative, but i might have bigger risk? And i suffer from chronic conjuntivitis, so sometimes i use steroid eye drops short term from time to time.
Will that affect hiv rapid testing result?

Anyone can help me??THanks .

Sorry, but i forgot to mention, currently i am using the steriod eye drops, just started 2 days ago, and i am thinking of going for a hiv rapid test sometime next week. Which will be 6 weeks from the oral exposure and months/years over the ear peicing situation..

Sorry and thanks guys.

Your additions don't change a thing. You were never at risk of contracting HIV. Read the transmission lesson. You can find the link in the "Welcome" thread.

Thanks for the reply rapidrod. However,i went to read the tread and it stated that hiv is transmitted through needles, and ear studs and earrings are counted as needles right.

Ya..i don't mean no offence i am just asking..
thanks

un,

No, ear studs are not counted as needles. Needles are hollow, ear studs are not.

The only thing you're risking by sharing ear studs is a bacterial infection. NOT hiv.

You really only need to test if you've been having unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse with someone of positive or unknown hiv status.

If you decide to go ahead and test anyway, your eye drops won't make a difference.

er, i just test negatvie 6 weeks after that the oral incidents and many many months after the ear studs incidents. So, can i really take it as conclusive now? since, the girl who gave me oral was negative,or do i need to test again at 13 weeks?

Hopefully this will be the last post, since she was negative i was at no risk reciving oral sex from her right?

er i forgotten to mention that i asked my friend again, if did she had sex during the window period of the hiv testing, she said no. However, she she did say that she did give sm1 a bj 2 months (still in the window period) after her test. when she did her test, it was 1 month after my exposure.

Therefore, can i say that since she tested negative 1 month after giving me oral sex, she didnt have hiv 1 month ago when she was giving me a bj to infect me?

Cause when i ask the doctor, he said when both are negative, hiv is not an issue. However, she did give another blowjob inside the window period..

Thanks again

unsure,

It doesn't matter how many blowjobs this woman has given. It doesn't even matter if she actually is hiv positive. The fact is, you NEVER needed to test over either of these NO RISK incidents you bring to us.

Getting a blowjob is NOT  a risk for hiv infection. Using someone else's ear studs is NOT a risk for hiv infection. End of story.

You ARE hiv negative and it's time you got on with your life.

If you've read the Welcome Thread before posting like you're supposed to, you will have read the following posting guideline:

Quote
Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to a four week Time Out (a temporary ban from the Forums). If you continue to post excessively after one Time Out, you may be given a second Time Out which will last eight weeks. There is no third Time Out - it is a permanent ban. The purpose of a Time Out is to encourage you to seek the face-to-face help we cannot provide on this forum.

Please consider yourself warned; you will not be warned again.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal inrtercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple.

Is this a worring situation?
Do i need another testing?

Sorry for another post, i am just lil worried over this swollen gland .

Well that's good news although certainly not a surprise since nothing you had done put you at risk for HIV.

Just keep using condoms everytime you have vaginal or anal intercourse and you will be well protected as far as any potential sexual risk for HIV transmission.

hey guys, i have a new enquiry.  Earlier, i went for a photoshoot and the make-up artist applied some make-up onto my face. I am pretty sure the make up artist uses the same brush for her clients, and since i got brushed on my pimples and theres blood in pimples. will there be a risk?

Another thing, sometimes when i go for haircuts, the barber/hairdesser uses a straight razor to cut of some fine hair on neck. i am quite sure the hairdesser doesnt use a disposable blade. Although i have never been cut by the blade till blood comes out, but theres always a minor burning/itchy sensation after the hairdresser shaves of the hair at the neck. so since theres no blood , is it safe to say its not a risk for hiv or heps? However,i have read in some hiv related sites that shaving blades shouldnt be shared, and the hairdresser isnt a professional, so she might not follow proper hygiene.

Sorry to post this in this old thread about another incident. But i havent been so worried since the last incident happen. I hope you guys can help/educate me with some of your expert opinion. Thanks.

HIV is not transmitted in the ways you are currently concerned about. It is not transmitted from environmental surfaces including makeup, scissors, razors and such. You've been coming here long enough to know that.

Re-read the lesson on Transmission which covers all of it. There's a link to it in the Welcome thread which opens this section.

hello moderators, sorry to bother you guys once again, but i may need your expert opinion. Something happened today that made me worried. So here goes.

Ok, i accidentally bit my lips a few days back and theres a ulcer/sore on my lips. And today, while i was drinking a can drink, my two of my friends ask for a sip as well, and i said sure, without thinking. Moreover, one of my friends, is known to have multiple partners.

I know that Hiv will not spread through sharing drinks, but there was a open cut/ulcer on my lips at the point of time, and i know you guys say that Hiv wouldnt survive in the air for long, but after they took the sips, i put the can in my mouth immediately again, 3-5 secs at most. Could it be, the virus be present still at such a short time, and i had an open cut/ulcer too. Moreover, i felt the ulcer hurt while i was drinking from the can, so it means that the can did come into contact with the mouth ulcer. Could this be worrying?

Sorry to post again in this old thread, but i have been worried the entire day about this. Really need your expert opinions regarding this matter, and it would be nice if you guys could explain to me more about this. Thanks.

unsure,

We've told you previously that hiv is NOT transmitted from environmental surfaces and that includes cans. Having an ulcer on your mouth does not change that fact.

Don't keep coming back with whatiffs about this latest no risk concern of yours. If you do, you will be quickly given a second time out.

PLEASE CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED!!!

Alright, i was aware that it isnt transmitted through environmental surfaces, after learning much information from the forum, it was the ulcer that made me worried?

However, thanks for letting me know once again, as always this forum has always been a help. I will try to stay more rationale regarding this matter in the future.

Thanks.
