I wanna know if there's a chance for me, a Filipino HIV+ who want's to work in the United States to be hired, granted a working visa & land a job in the US?
Are there employers hiring PLHIV in the US? and is willing to arrange working visas for HIV+ Filipino like me?
You're answers will greatly be appreciated.

Additional info: I am a Physical Therapist, but no licence to practice in the US yet. Im open to other positions though aside from PT.

There are plenty of challenges to immigrating and getting work in the U.S.

However, HIV status is no longer (legally) one of them. Nor is disclosure is required. You should be on equal footing with the HIV negative Filipinos.

Getting an H1B, green card, or other work eligible visa is not easy, and generally requires an employer to sponsor you.  Most of my experience has been in the information technology space, where workers qualify under a specialized skills classification claiming that a citizen/green card holder cannot be found to hire. That is a rather tough standard, with many becoming consultants having to move every 6-12 months for about 5 years or so until they get a green card and can apply for a non-consulting job like anyone else. I'm not sure how that would translate into the field you are currently in, with the added licensing requirements and the job market for those skills.

One more thing to keep in mind- the primary way to get healthcare in the U.S. is through your employer.  Being HIV+ does mean that you must be ready to cover that through work. Coming without a job or without one that offers healthcare benefits is not a good idea.

Thank you Pittman. I have eligibility to take the licensure exam for the state of NY. I haven't tried taking it yet though because I am thinking that after I get a license no one would hire me because I am HIV+. Or that I will fail the medical exam of the health care facilities because of my HIV status.

HIV status shouldn't impact your job prospects one way or another for your field. Again, as there would be no transmission risk, they can't even ask you about your status without opening themselves up to a lawsuit.

Communicable diseases like TB could be another matter for some states, requiring testing and treatment.

Thank you again. So I am hopeful. I am undergoing all the processes without the aid of an agency. I am hoping for a direct hire. Hopefully I'll be able to find an employer that is willing to sponsor for my working visa after I acquire my license to practice and my visa screen certificate.
