Very bad mistake
« on: April 07, 2014, 11:23:18 pm »
I am a gay man in my late twenties and I invited a guy over to my place that I met online. I had 6 beers so I was pretty drunk. So we made out for like 10 minutes and then we jerked each other off for a couple minutes. I then got out a condom and put it on my dick, but I wasn't fully erect so there were a lot of wrinkles and excess on top. But I was hard enough to put it inside. When I pushed it in he told me to stop,  so I just pulled out. It was in him for a few seconds with a condom,  but again I wasn't fully hard. So I pulled off the condom and I jerked off for a little bit even touching the tip of my penis which was covered in my precum. I'm worried that I used the hand that touched the surface of the condom to jerk myself off and that there could have been blood or something on it. I told him that I didn't want to give him a bj so he offered to blow me. He sucked my dick for a few minutes until I came in his mouth. I really worried because I think he does meth, he had sores on his body and a rash on his chest. He broke up with his bf a couple weeks ago and he told me that that guy did meth and was crazy. I'm worried that he might have gotten infected recently and was experiencing ars symptoms and had a high viral load. I asked him if he did meth and he told me no, but I have a bad feeling that he does. What if he had meth mouth and gave me a blow job with a high viral load. Do you think I could have contracted hiv?

Beard,

The penetrative sex you had was protected and Oral sex is not a risk for HIV.  The only theoretical oral risk is if YOU gave a blowjob to someone with high viral load and YOU had open sores in your mouth.  Nobody has ever got infected through a BJ and you will not be the first.  I would also caution you about assuming anything about any partner, because it is not the person, it is what YOU DO with that person that matters.

Here is what you need to know in order to avoid HIV infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI.  Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but HIV is forever.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST FOR HIV SPECIFICALLY OVER A NO RISK INCIDENT, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to HIV testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you are not already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start.  As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine HIV tests to return with negative results.

Do not forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than HIV. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid HIV infection.

So even if he had meth mouth and a high viral load it's still low risk? What if I had some of his precum on my hand and I used that hand to jerk off with?  I also rubbed my eyes at the end of the night before I went to bed and I didn't wash my hands. So I shouldn't worry about getting tested over this?

The risk for oral transmission of HIV comes from GIVING blow jobs and not getting one . YOU would have to blow a guy who had a high viral load while you suffered wounds or meth mouth .

You have not had a risk a Joe told you already and there is no need to test over this specific incident . Just follow through and get your regular sexual healthcare checkups like all responsible sexually active people should do any way . We did not want to leave you with the impression that you had a risk for this incident though .

I'm just really worried because I was drunk. I was only inside him for a few seconds but what if the condom didn't fully cover the base of the penis. What if he had meth mouth and then my dick touched one of the sores in his mouth. What if some of his precum somehow got on the tip of my penis from when we jerked each other off? If he had a high viral load I'm concerned.

You are letting your imagination run away with you.  You did not have a risk and no matter how you try to spin it, you did not have a risk.  HIV does not survive outside of the body in any way that would present a risk.  You did not have a risk.

Masturbation is not a risk even if there is precum , HIV is far to fragile to infect once outside the human body . The important thing is your penis tip was covered during sex . You did not have a risk and can safely put your concerns to rest .
