one of the joys of being back in the South is that there are a lot more Krispy Kremes around. I haven't been to one in years, until yesterday. I got a free krueller and bought myself a dozen glazed doughnuts. mmmmmm ;D And I already ate up half of them. LOL

I'm apparently the only person who doesn't like Krispy Kremes.  I haven't eaten at a Dunkin Doughnuts in over 20 years but I'd really like to give one a go sometime soon.  I think there's one in Baton Rouge maybe.

I like a cakey chocolate donut with clear glaze.  Or cakey vanilla with powdered sugar.
Jelly and cream donuts are only as good as the filling inside.  If it says "creme", i'd rather go to a german or italian bakery and get something with real cream, or real eggy custard for that matter.
Any donut is delicious when stoned, hungover, or hungry on the road.

Hmmm, I live in the North, and there's a Krispy Kreme about a 7 minute drive from here.  Yes, yes, I know they originated in the South (as did a lot of fried things).

You're very lucky ;D There are only 5 KK stores* in your state, so you're pretty lucky to live so close to one.

in Ohio I could only buy "old" KK dnuts boxed and shipped into grocery stores. There wasn't any store with the HOT light in town. We had to drive 20mins up I-77 to Akron for the real thing.

(* http://web.sa.mapquest.com/krispykreme/?tempset=search Checking in the pdf, I see there's only 7 in all of Ohio, so it's no wonder I didn't find them easily there either - especially when compared to 15 locations down here in SC and 25 in NC)

Little by little Cheerwine, another Southern export out of Salisbury NC, has been moving up North too. (though not in Canton either - except for the suitcase full I'd bring back everytime I returned from a trip to the Carolinas)

and sadly, many Hardee's , out of Spartanburg SC, (my very first fast food job) are closing in the North

time to go get the last of my dozen KK dnuts. ;)
and I filled out the online survey and now have a coupon for ANOTHER dozen of glazed dnuts - for FREE! ;D
mmmmmmmm dougnuts
