Welcome to the "Do I Have HIV?" POZ forum.

This special section of the POZ forum is for individuals who have concerns about whether or not they are HIV positive. Individuals are permitted to post up to three questions or responses in this forum.

Ongoing participation in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum (posting more than three questions or responses) requires a paid subscription, with secure payments made via PayPal.

A seven-day subscription is $9.99, a 30-day subscription is $14.99 and a 90-day subscription is $24.99.

Anyone who needs to post more than three messages in the "Do I Have HIV?" forum -- including past, present and future POZ Forums members -- will need to subscribe, with secure payments made via PayPal.

Is a test warranted in this case?

Hey everyone,

A couple of days ago, I started having really high fever (102.4F/39C). This was accompanied with a severe runny nose and slight cough. My initial thought was that this was Covid. I am fully vaccinated, but there is always a small chance. So I got myself tested (I did the non rapid test) and it turned out to be negative. Now, after 3 days since the start of the symptom, the initial severe symptoms have subsided a bit. I only have a slight fever(102.4F/38C) and a mild runny nose.. But I am having an intense dry cough and occasional droplets of blood when I blow my nose (I may be blowing too hard). The simple explanation I think is that it is some kind of flu. I had recently gone to a cinema and the guy who happened to sit near me was coughing occasionally throughout the movie. I could have acquired something from him. But it is in my nature to worry about the worst possible scenarios. 18 days before the start of the symptoms I had visited an escort. I had seen her 2-3 times before. I had unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex. I don't recall noticing anything out of the ordinary during the meeting. The condom was still on when I pulled out, it didn't look as if it had broken. Then again, I didn't examine it closely (if you know what I mean). After pulling out, we used the tissues to remove the condom from my penis and she put it in the bin. I am already taking medications for the symptoms I have, but once the thought that this could be the early flu-like symptoms in HIV took hold of my mind, I have been panicking.I would like to ask two questions to the community.

Is it possible to get an infection through the micro tears in the condom?

Do you think that this situation qualifies for a testing,(6 weeks after the exposure)?

Hopefully my current medications will ease my symptoms soon.
