Do you think it may be side effect of medication. Unfortunately nothing really help :( even if I drink as crazy before sleep. Any advice about that?? My other question is - how much are rebuilding of CD4 count affect by stress and anxiety?? It will always on medication stop dropped down and start slightly increased ? Or stress may affect this a lot?? Thank you for your advice! Lots of love. L.

I have had the same symptom - dry mouth at night.  I think it is because I snore and breathe through my mouth at night but I don't know why the symptom would be more pronounced since starting to take Stribild.  I started on Stribild in early February after I was diagnosed January 17, 2014.  By the way, Stribild took my VL to undetectable in 3 months (4/28/14) so it is a great drug but the dry mouth thing has me concerned.
Diagnosed 1/17/2014 VL 157K CD4 200
Start Stribild 2/7/2014
3/23/14   VL  95 CD4 323

Wear a mask (the type people wear, or at least should wear, when they have the flu)
when you sleep

Not easy to get used to it but will retain humidity and do the trick

People who sleep in otherwise dry environment (submarine, spacecraft, intergallatic ships, etc) use this trick. This should work

It's not unusual for various types of medication and/or chronic disease to cause a decrease in the production of saliva:

This is one reason it has always been important for HIV+ patients to see a dentist regularly. Personally I try and mitigate dry mouth by using Biotene products (toothpaste and mouthwash) even though they cost more than other dental hygiene products.

I'm pretty sure the dry mouth at night started when I started taking Stribild. Other than the dry mouth I have some loose stools and have lost some weight.  The weight thing might be the stress because I'm going through a divorce at the same time. Welcome to my wonderful life...

Thanks for the Biotene tip Miss P.  Do you ever use the generic versions from WalMart? Are they just as effective? I quit using Biotene because of cost.

I have been using Biotene for years now.  At Walmart, the 33.8 ounce bottle runs a little over 10.00 dollars. ( just bought it)

Biotene does not contain Alcohol.  Look for products that say "Alcohol Free" on the label.

Crest " Pro Health is Alcohol free, And I believe Equate, makes an Alcohol free mouth was and rinse.

Mouthwashes and rinses, that contain Alcohol will dry your mouth out.
