Is it just me or.....?
« on: November 16, 2006, 06:51:48 pm »
I work a the state university here in New Mexico. As a result, I get to see a lot of things on campus that he average person does not encounter on the average day at the office. One of the more fun things I get to see is the members of the ROTC out jogging in formation several times a week. It's very early in the morning, and it's a great way to start the day. My own little soft-core porno show, put on just for me. But then later on, I see the same guys and girls going to classes. To see these kids, riding  their skateboards to and from ROTC class is unnerving and depressing. I mean, they're just KIDS, no different than any other kid that you may see on the street. The only difference, is that when they get out of school, they get to go over to Iraq, and get shot at, coming home injured, crippled, or dead. I find this a distressing thing to think about. A few days ago, the Navy pulled up a big 18 wheeler onto the campus, and put on one hell of a show. Movies about how great it is to be a Navy SEAL, loud rock music, lights, and loads of free pizza and cold drinks. I think that the truth in advertising laws should be put into place here, the potential recruits also told that the pay is so bad, that if they have a family, they will be eligible for food stamps. That if they come home with fewer body parts than they left with, the government will not help much. That they are viewed as mere cannon fodder by the powers that be. Maybe if the government were actually honest about how the people who are in the military are treated by the very people they are serving, as well as the bullshit reasons for the "war", we'd see fewer kids getting their lives trashed before they ever really get started.
I guess what I'm asking here is this: Is it just me, or is this really fucked up?
The only thing I can do straight is shoot..

Part of me thinks that if  they are this gullable, the they deserve what they get. Just look at the crap written here. What is sad though is the fact this administration has cut vets benefits. Maybe you should do your patriotic duty and print the truth out for them.
Maybe something on how the Pentagon lied to the Tillman family as with other families, or even just ask them how they think.
Let them know if they have second thoughts say they are gay and tell gay.com is a great place to post.
Oh and don't forget to blame the French!

I know what you mean, Carl, and if there was something I would love to see for the well-being of human kind, it would be the banning of any military from the face of the planet forever! Wishful thinking? So be it.
The horrifying  detail you've just mentioned is nothing compared to the damage they --- the military, in general --- invariably do to the environment each time there is  a war.
