Haggas, anyone?

Love haggis. No joke. Probably rivals Fearless' lamb brains.

Okay!!! Queenie and PozA enough already! Those of us who live in an area experiencing a "dry spell" do not appreciate having it rubbed in that they are hard up ;)

I will let my friend, Commander Cody, put it into poetic persective

                    "Well my dog died yesterday
                     and left me all alone
And the finance company dropped by today
                     and reposessed my home
But that's just a drop in the bucket gal
                     compared to loosing you
And I'm down to seeds and stems again, too...."

Oh Capt, I have been down to stems and seeds many a day. What did I do? Tried out my green thumb. It's a work in progress I tell ya. They live, they die, they get dry and then I get high. *giggles*

Crumbed brains are delicious - first gently poached in an aromatic broth then fried in parmesan-flavoured crumbs, giving a golden, crunchy exterior that contrasts nicely with the creamy richness inside. The dish is finished with a little browned butter from the pan and a squeeze of lemon.
Add some bacon, and Bob's your uncle.

Commander Cody, there is a name which is a blast from the past.  He grew up in Sonoma County, graduated from Piner High in 1969 and I often think... "My pappy said son youre gonna drive me to drinkin if you don't stop driving that hot rod Lincoln. Have the best day

Yes, fried brains. I remember that smell too but I didn't indulge. It did smell good as mom was a good cook.
The thought of that nice moo cow's brains being fried didn't appeal to this child.

Ray, that is just too easy. I will avoid the temptation.

One of my favorite breakfasts is an old dish my father indoctrinated us on called fried cheese. It was rather like Welsh rarebit but a bit thinner, made with cheese, bacon and a bit of water then served over toast.

Yummy and definitely a coronary in situ.

Yes Jeff, some of us still cook. I prefer it.

Nowadays though, my breakfasts are usually just quick and easy: Two eggs over easy, two pieces of millet bread with butter and blackberry jam, a slice of ham, some hash browns and a small bowl of fruit, all washed down with 8 oz. of fresh carrot juice and four cups of coffee.

Quick and simple, but it works.

HUGS,

Mark

breakfast? what's that?  ???
I have never been a breakfast person, brunch yes...
I think it is because my body is not awake until at least 2 hours after I get out of bed and moving.  Even as a child my breakfast usually consisted of a huge glass of chocolate milk..that's it.  I really only enjoyed breakfast on the weekends when mom would make soft boiled eggs and we would have a variety of breads , cold cuts, cheeses, jams and fresh fruit.  I think I only liked it because mom never got up before 10am on the weekends so I was up and ready by the time breakfast was ready.
Now I don't eat a propper breakfast anymore, not since I started Videx....I have to take it on an empty stomach so the best time for me is first thing in the am...by the time I get to work and I can grab a bite, 2 hours or more have gone by and I end up eating an apple or some junk like a danish.
Plus, with high cholesterol say goodbye to bacon, saussage, eggs...breakfast becomes so boring.... :(

My dad and grandad used to eat scrambled eggs and calf brains for breakfast--ugh. Never even tried that one!  But I do like a big bowl of menudo after a night of drinking; unfortunately it means I not be doing the shopping until late afternoon!

Just toss that together, do ya Betty Crocker?  Are ya wearin' those chaps I like so much when yer cookin' it up?   :o

Myself, sometimes buttered toast, sometimes oatmeal w/ margarine and brown sugar, sometimes fruit, but if I really want to be happy I throw down.  Biscuits and gravy, eggs, potatoes, meats, pastries.  If I really want to touch heaven, mimosas (plural).  Of course, I'm stoned.

America can never be doomed so long as good people continue to clog their arteries with good ole home-grown, god-fearing American breakfast cuisine!

Eschew the McGriddle (except in extreme emergency)!!

No more dicks-on-sticks (except for corndogs, which are acceptable)!!

That is all.  Amen
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth,
The minor fall, the major lift,
The baffled king composing Hallelujah!

Oddly enough, I prepared a lovely dinner for party of 1 tonight.  What did I prepare?  Ever so glad you asked...   Poached Atlantic Salmon in Lemon Teragon butter, a squash, rice and some garlic bread.

What I fail to understand is... Salmon season just ended on the West Coast,  I live less than 16 miles from the ocean and can only get Arlantic Salmon.  Have the best day
