Title: Surgery next week for Buffalo Hump, (fatty tumor)
Post by: netta on November 01, 2011, 07:00:11 pm
Hi all, after years with this hump on my neck and upper back, I decidde to get it removed. My HIV docs says it's from the meds, but The surgeon says it's not, it's a Fatty Tumor. My primary care doc was shocked to see it, because it is large. I had been having aches and pains in my neck and shoulders so she referred me to a specialist. When  the specialist saw me this week he was taken aback also. I will be having same day surgery next week. I have been trying to cover it up for the last few years but it has grown, thesize of a large apple ! has anyone the surgery, I wanted lipo butit is too large so I will have to get cut and have a scar, can't win for loosing. lol. :-\

Hey Netta,

My hump is about the size of a grapefruit in the back. I also have the turkey neck and chipmunk jowls.

I wish I were more than 200 pounds, then I could blame it on that. ;)

I haven't had the surgery. I wanted to, but my insurance rejected it as cosmetic and I don't have the money to pay out of pocket.

From what I have heard, lipo is often not affective with this type of deposit because it is more fibrous.

Let us know how it goes.

By the way, do you know if they can remove the other deposits surgically? Specifically, I would like to lose the neck and lumps on the back of my head.

HUGS,

Mark
