what a night we had...Update
« on: August 17, 2006, 06:45:54 am »
Hello everyone

Have to share a bit of news with you all.

Lastnight, my daughters boyfriend stopped by and took us out to eat, under false pretenses might I add.
He asked us for our blessing to marry our daughter! OMG! I didn't know guys still do this sort of thing!

They are leaving tomorrow to go to New York for a week, I have to keep a straight face until they leave LOL His plans are to ask her on the Brooklyn Bridge

They have been dating since she was a senior in high school, she's 24 now and just got her masters degree. What a year this is gonna be for her!

OK, I just had to share this news with everyone, got to finish getting ready for work now.

Have a wonderful day

Nadine (who is smiling from ear to ear!)

You can always FORBID them to marry.. then they will elope and save ya some cash <grin>

Seriously, congrats. He sounds like a keeper for your daughter!

I think its an Orange Alert on the Empire State Buliding... PLUS, if she say's NO he can always jump off the bridge!

Nadine, this is great news! The boyfriend sounds like a nice guy and such a romantic. Your daughter seems to have a good head on her shoulders. I wish them all the love in the world and a lifetime together. How's that straight face? Sore yet?  ;D

Nadine, that is way cool!!! ;D

One doesn't hear of potential suitors asking the girls parents for her hand in marriage.  Sounds like he was raised with to know manners as well as respect.

Got a phone call from New York lastnight...the deed is done, they are engaged!

I just knew when I saw the caller ID what the phone call would be about! She was screaming over the phone  :D  She called me within minutes of the proposal, she just talked for a minute, I'm sure there were more important things to do lastnight rather than chatting with her Mother  ;)

OK, I guess that's about it for now...details to follow

MY LITTLE GIRL IS GETTING MARRIED!  ;D ;D

Nadine,
Congratulations on your daughters engagement. A word of warning though, the word is GRANDCHILDREN. Nothing else can make you feel old quite like grandkids. But that's OK too, after all they are the best revenge. Keep us posted on the upcoming nuptials..

Nadine, Congratulations on your little girl getting married! Take plenty of pictures at the wedding. It is good to hear that all went well on the Brooklyn Bridge.

That's the most heartwarming story I've heard in ages, Nadine! Nice to know romance is still on the "cool things" list for younger generation.  :D

Now you have the fun part of helping plan the wedding! Any idea when the wedding date is?

My neice got married in May. The groom fainted during the ceremony. First time I had ever seen anyone faint....LOL

Thanks everyone for your kind words.
My daughter and her fiance are in New York until Friday, so I have no idea what their plans are as of yet, they probably don't know themselves.  I'm sure they will wait for about a year before getting married, they are both recent grads and will want to "get real jobs" before planning for their wedding.
I will keep you all posted!
