Atripla Dreams Thread
« en: Septiembre 06, 2010, 10:15:11 am »
So, at the risk of being duplicative (I don't know if someone long ago in a galaxy far away had a thread specificallly dedicated to Atripla dreams) - I wanted to start a thread where us Atripla users can share some of our Atripla dreams (at least the ones or parts of ones we can remember).

Last night's dream:
I was in the Middle Ages - going through the countryside with a bunch of guys that looked like they were from the Capital One commercials -
The King of Persia and his henchmen were after us -
Had to hide inside an old castle and ended up in a winding well.... we managed to elude the Persian King and his men -- saw the horses, the flags, the armor...

The inside of the castle and well were so realistic - stones, caverns, dirt floors -

The crew I was with seemed to enjoy hanging out with me - although they were much more adapted to the region...

Overall a good dream - from what I can remember.

My favorite Atripla dream was the one I had about Cher .

She had come to visit me to show me her rocking body she had just whipped into shape to go on tour . The problem was she had big fat kankles that everyone seemed to be ignoring but me .

I was worrying myself to death in that dream about how I was going to tell poor Cher she had enormous fat ankles .

Hey phil thanks for starting such a cool thread. I have always had weird dreams even before Atripla, but it does seem to enhance them since I started taking it. I dreamed about a masked man on horseback riding into my room through my window last week (dunno if he was hung like a horse tho). Last night I dreamed I was on this highway and trying to climb over this giant rock in the road with like ropes and stuff. I also dreamed I was in like Narnia or something last night, and the final battle was about to begin. Crazy! No wonder I felt so drowsy this morning lol.

Hubby usually has nightmares.  Stuff like rows of combines racing through fields of green crops not ready to harvest at high speed,  tornadoes flying around,  roof blowing off the house,  nurses making very  horrifying comments in hospitals.  The other night he was dreaming that he had a boner,   woke up ....nothing,   went back to sleep, dreamed he had a boner,  woke up.... nothing,  went on like 6 or seven times that way all night.  ::)

I miss the atripla dreams, the one that stands out is...

Waking up to find that the State Police had opened a substation in my bathrroom, and they were drinking all my coffee. But what could i do.

It was  nice to wake up from that one.

I was considered posting about my Sustiva-induced zombie dreams (where they were trying to get me - back when I was really sick) and my Chantix-induced zombie dreams (where I was whacking off their heads - when my counts were finally stablizing) but I see I did that in a previous thread about Atripla dreams back in Feb 2009  :D

woke up.... nothing,  went on like 6 or seven times that way all night.  ::)
I know you've mentioned the hubby's problems, so tell him if he ever has THAT dream again to not wake up; but to just go with it and enjoy it. ;)

Now that is one of the scary ones, except we are always crossing a bridge over the Mississippi river and all the sudden the bridge disappears and we fall into the river. We actually had a discussion about Atripla nightmares at last Thursday's group meeting. Seems like everyone said the same thing, that they have their dreams/nightmares right before they wake up instead of the usual in the middle of the night. Hubby went about 2 years without any  dreams/nightmares.  they just started this spring.

My dreams seem to be rather erotic. I don't recall the exact details of my dreams. But, I know my dreams have gotten really erotic since starting the Atripla. Not at all what I was warned would happen. I was told I would have nightmares. But, actually my dreams seem to be really sexual. The few non erotic dreams I have had have been so obscure that I can't really remember the content of them. But, I do know they weren't nightmares.

Relieved others are having similar experiences with Atripla. I've been having powerful, vivid dreams and nightmares, talking in my sleep, sometimes I wake up so disoriented it takes me a minute to sort out reality. Woke up once screaming for my dead grandmother. Some are nightmares, in one I hit my son, closed fisted in the face, i've never done that, never come close. About a week ago, I swore someone shot out my window, I could smell the powder, heard my old drill sgt yelling about a rem 700 .308 (memories of drill sgt are unwanted in dreams) heard glass breaking.

I took ambian for a about a week, and it helped, but I've tried to limit the number of pills I take. I've tried valerian, yellowroot, and camo meal (sp;) teas with good results, but I worry about herbal interactions with Atripla. My doc has only stressed not taking St Johns Wort, but other than that, I'm not up on plantlore.

On a general note, dreams etc which persist for 6+ months indicate speaking to doc about changing/doing sommat else. Switching is not the only way to manage the situation, but it merits dicussion. This kinda situation is not a long term liveable situation. It can be better. - matt

Been on Atripla since Jan 2010/My first med since being Poz. Been having Dreams and Nightmares. From winning the lottery to getting caught in a tidal wave in a peaceful lagoon. My ID Doc told me to watch some porn right before going to sleep. He said it's good for relieving stress. Lol. Haven't tried it but I do wake up with a morning hard on.

I still have some pretty wild Atripla dreams almost nightly (started on meds in March).  My favorite was hitting a huge jackpot on a slot machine (750K).  Very very few are nightmares but once in a while I wake up from one and am glad it is over.  I have yet to have one about Cher, State Police, zombies, or even the guys in the Cap One commercials.  I will say that there is one guy in the Cap One commercial that I would not mind having in my dream.  (thats a story for a different thread)

My father who has been dead for 10 years was in my dream last night.  I seem to dream that I am back at work at Nasdaq quite a bit for some reason and every now and then I dream of having magical powers that allow me to fly or do things that you would see on that old TV show, Bewitched.  Last week I dreamed that a group of us went back to the year 1958 and took others from that time to the year 2441 (maybe I should play those numbers in the pick 4).  Only once have I dreamed about killing people and then having to deal with hiding the dead bodies.... now that one really was 'out there'.

Resurrecting this thread as it is not necessary to start a new one.

This past week I had one of the wildest Atripla Dreams yet:  My brother and I were visiting a friend in Savannah and somehow we went to an insane asylum (I know.. that part is weird but thats what happened in the dream) I wanted to play the piano for the patients.  They all gathered around and I sat down at the piano then proceeded to play this wild Billy Preston like tune w/o missing a note.  (you know how he use to tear up those keyboards back in the day)  Then all of a sudden we were in the historic district at my friend's home and in this dream I knew I was dreaming but somehow needed to get to LA before midnight to take my daily dose of Atripla.  Now the weird part to me is this was my first Atripla dream where I knew in the dream that I was dreaming AND that I had to take my Atripla.

I have been on this med since March of 2010 and the wild dreams show no sign of stopping.  I sometimes wish there was a way we could digitally record them for playback.  Only a few in the past year have been what I would call a nightmare.  Each night its a new adventure for sure.

Hey Drew,

I find what you say very interesting. I highlighted it in bold. This is how my dreams have always been! LOL. I always found it weird that I can wake up and fall back to sleep quickly and resume my dreams where I left off.

I wonder how my dreaming will be affected if I am prescribed Atripla...

A couple of years ago there was a article about South African youth who would crush sustiva and smoke it like crack for the high. Wonder if that story was true, and if it would make you hallucinate.
Read a conspiracy theory site when i first seroconverted that claimed sustiva was a chemical cousin of LSD.

I bet that would taste pretty awful if you smoked it.... nothing like some good bud in a clean bong thats for sure. It does not matter if I take it on an empty stomach or right after a steak dinner, the dreams are wild pretty much every night.  Like Drew said, I can go back into them after I wake up for a piss break right where I left off.

Perhaps the episode tonight will have a hot naked stud that wants to screw my brains out instead of playing some piano in Savannah.  LOL

Which makes it really good if you are dreaming about banging or being banged by the special someone. These dreams are so damn vivid, many times, I can't wait to get back to it!

Had my first Atripla dream last night and it was horrible. I was sent to jail for a crime I didnt commit.  The dream lasted forever.  Finally I was able to see a judge who set me free.  Ive been on Atripla for over 4 months and I just now had a screwed up dream.  It blowed.

I don't know that everyone has them Rocky but I sure do and find them enjoyable about 99% of the time. Some are strange, some weird and some are very sexual but I would not classify any as being a nightmare in my experience.  :)

Not at all. I've been on Atripla for awhile and only had one long bad dream.  Otherwise I sleep rather well (however the first month i dont think I slept at all).    When you do have them they are long, and just very vivid and intesnse, and creative.  They are not necessarily bad.  Absolutely nothing to worry about.

Would like to thank everyone for the info.  Still scared about the side effects.  Medical doctor may take me off my Prozac before I start atripla this Friday night. My ID doctor did not believe the Prozac would be a problem. I guess I will see what happens.

Thank again

drewm thanks - Medical doctor now is going to wait one month and see how things go.  Maybe I can stop the prozac.  Looks like you had a good response to Atripla by your numbers and can only hope for the same.

Expect good results on Atripla. Most of the labs I have seen from peeps on this drug are very encouraging. Remember though that if it doesn't work, for whatever reason, there are plenty of other options.  :)

Last night I had some Haagan Daz (sp) when I took my Atripla pill.  Ending up having some strange dreams that involved monkeys wearing suits ruling the world.

I've been on Atripla for several years now, and I have always had weird dreams with it, but it's such a great medication I hope I don't have to change anytime soon.  The weirdest ones are where I am about to die from being stabbed, shot or burned alive.  They are quite vivid and only rarely have I had to wake myself up in order to get past them.  I sometimes wonder if the dreams aren't actually something that I have been through in a past life and the Atripla just allows me to focus on them.  Gawd, I hope not.

Having just finished my second week on the drug, I am still having very vivid dreams. I, like many on the thread, have always had vivid dreams but almost never were they violent or scary. Some have been like deja vu, etc BUT, since being on Atripla I am finding that my dreams have turned into a bit more violent images but it's like no one dies or really gets seriously hurt but lots of blood and cuts. It's very odd. I don't usually wake up afraid, just feeling very odd.

So last night I had a short, strange and a little scary Atripla dream - which woke me up and had the dream paralysis again that I experienced a while back -
In my dream, my cpap (sleep apnea) machine had gotten tangled up in my iron - which somehow was on my bed and plugged in -- it was throwing sparks and getting closer to burning me up (YIKE) --- I tried to jump up and get it off of me - but couldn't move..... very strange dream ---- I guess it was the late night ice cream sandwich I had before I went to bed and a few minutes after I took my meds.

So, how do I follow that up - while, I'm getting ready to take my Atripla and have a piece of baked chicken ---- tune in tomorrrow for a follow up on tonight's dream(s) which I am sure I will have  ;D

I only had good or neutral "trips" on Atripla.  Sometimes exhausting however.
For that matter, I never had a bad acid trip.  Famous among friends for that.  My mind never "went there".

Well maybe not having dreams is a blessing.  I had wild dreams. But soon enough I had, as well, disagreeable CNS reactions.  Maybe people who have the dreams are more reactive to the drug and also more disposed to having bad CNS reactions.  I couldn't stay on the drug.  So if its completely neutral for you, maybe that's just as well.
