Risk?
« on: December 19, 2006, 04:13:28 am »
Hi, guys first i would like by stating i couldn't remember my old username and had problems recovering it with the find password. I was forced to create a new username, so apologies for breaking the rule, if i had a choice i would have preffered continuing in my old thread

Tested at 4 weeks when posted on site, experts here agreed to continue testing out to 3 months for conclusive result on an unprotected vaginal sex scenario. At last time of posting i stated the girl was tested at around the same time and was declared negative. News arrived she never even got tested and lied to me if it werent for her friend to confront me of this shameless act i would have never known. How could people be so uncaring with such a life threatning dillema. This was after my 11 week negative oraquick. Fast foward i recieved a 13 week negative shy of 1 day, with an oraquick advance

My specifics ,Her status is a mystery to everyone, she decieved me which hurt me emotionally and pyschologically because i placed my status on her results, which of course Ann pointed out not too, thank god for atleast following that advise given and testing out to 13 weeks for my own peice of mind.. Anyway, she promised to get tested for real, yet says she recieved the results but refused to give me information about it,
No one that we mutually know has even heard if she's ok since then, and no one seems to be able to contact her

So i'm wondering,
If i do learn she is Positive would that warrant additional testing, this is of course assuming she is pos, clearly avoiding me, which seems like a possiblilty considering the fact that she has lied about her testing before.

I do have Ulcerative Collitis, it seems that this is an Auto Immune Diesase not sure if it would relate to anyway of delaying antibodies, would anyone know the specifics on that?

Should Retesting should be warranted with any news or perhaps the conditions i've had for the last couple of years, i havent been on any immunsepressents in the past year.

Also learned a great deal not to put trust in anyones results, and to clearly have yourself tested for the same reasons stated above. Thanks Ann for the one.

Thanks
Chris

Nope, your test is definitively negative.  Since you have tested negative, her status has become a moot point, so unless you plan on having sex with her again, you really do not need to know what it is.  Even if she is positive, your tests have shown she did not infect you, give it a rest.  And no, you do not need to retest--3 months is definitive, you haven't been on immunosuppressents, so there is no reason not to trust the negative result.

crazy,

Autoimmune disease is sometimes implicated in FALSE POSITIVE results, but never false negatives. You can trust your negative result. You ARE hiv negative. It's time to move on with your life.

Chris, just want to chime in here to agree that you have reliably tested negative for HIV. Period. End of story. No further testing is necessary no matter what your mind may say to the contrary.

And as long as you consistently use latex condoms whenever you have intercourse the HIV status of your partner is irrelevant. Condoms provide effective protection no matter whom you are with.

Cheers,

is there ever a time where more testing is recommended based on lingering symptoms and such.
I've read a few stories on "I just tested postive"where there are some individuals who seemed to take more than three months to get an accuarte diagnoses with repeated testing. I dont mean to be rude, or intruding into others peoples very unfortunate diagnosis  :-\ it just confuses me, that maybe there are times when 13 weeks isn't enough.

I never found out the real status of the girl i was with, at this point its irrelevant now, she's a distant past. I'm just contemplating testing again because of these lingering symptoms common knowledge expects me a negative results but then i read these unfortunate stories and i would hate to be thinking i could be infecting someone in the near future..

Just wondering what would be your reccomendations

The 13 week time frame is enough.  You are reliably HIV negative.  There are very few exceptions to where it may take longer to seroconvert--for example if someone is on chemo due to cancer and is immunosuppressed, etc.  You also have to realize that some people on this board found out they were positive in pretty advanced stage AIDS--those people can have a problem with antibody tests.    There can be misconceptions about what time period is, there can be other conditions that screw up results and take longer to get to the bottom of it--such as someone who may repeatedly get an indeterminate Western Blot.  Anyhow, this doesn't apply to you.  You are HIV negative.  I would think you have read this board enough to know that symptoms are useless when it comes to HIV.  If you test again--it is up to you, it isn't warranted (unless you've had unprotected intercourse since then), it will be negative, but at the end of the day, it is your money.......

Lord, you are reliably HIV negative.  Moving forward if you remain sexually active it is a good idea to have a full STD panel done every 6 months or at least once a year.

Had Frottage recieved oral sex and, had vaginal sex with a girl for about 2 minutues. Condom was on about 50 to 60% on penis, Head and foreskin was covered. Couple of days later i saw a bump that looked like a blister on the lower half which i believe may or may not have been covered. The Bump scabbed over and disapered. If it were Herpes could have i possibily contracted hiv if that part wasn't covered? I dont remember seeing it there on the day of sex. I'm very afraid i asked the doctor at medhelp he said its close to zero risk as long as the head and foreskin was covered. ( i did check for condom break with water no visibile damage to it)
Am i over reacting?

so just in theory this blister which i dont recall seeing unless it was too small to notice had no significant effect on me being at greater risk?

I agree fully with what the others have told you, but I just had to add my own experiences about this same thing.  It is hilarious and you might find a little comfort and assurance that you are in no way infected with HIV from this experience.

I would get an occasional bump/blister after having sex with a new girlfriend.  Of course since the relationship was new I would go into a fit of paranoia and immediately head to the health department for a full std panel and HIV test.  Of course it would always come back negative to much my relief, but it was always funny looking back on it now that it always occurred after having sex with a new girlfriend.

I despise the song Love is in the Air, you should too.

Thanks friend. Maybe its the guilt eating me inside for cheating this one time.
I really hope your right. I would never want to endanger someone because of my mistakes. Will get tested. I hope the condom half on was enough.

Testing was never necessary because you didn't do anything risky. No further testing is necessary.

As long as you always use latex condoms should you stray again, you are well protected against HIV transmission.

Guilt-provoked anxiety is a separate issue and has nothign to do with anything genuinely risky such as unprotected intercourse.
