I am in considerable pain.
« on: March 14, 2007, 09:34:35 pm »
The third step up to my apartment gave out underneath me while I was going up the stairs, and my shin and knee are screaming out for sweet, delicious beer to dull the pain.  I also seem to have lost my keys under them somewhere.  Awesome.

The funeral went as well as a funeral could go... of course, today we spent with my cousins getting buzzed and playing Monopoly and Egyptian Ratscrew.  Like you do after an internment.

Saw the family... met my sister's fiance... ate lots of food.

I also went to a straight dive bar in Fredericksburg (a small town almost exactly halfway between DC and Richmond), and I discovered that I am attractive to 40 year old women.  I had boobies pressed up against me like you wouldn't believe.  I also talked Dark Shadows with the only homo in there.

Oh, and I cut my hair.  I look like Jean Seberg in Breathless.

I also read an incredibly interesting book called "How the Irish Saved Civilization."

A nice time was had by me.  But I'm extremely glad to be back home in my scuzzy apartment... sans stair, even.

What was really embarrassing was that I wiped out right in front of the bum who lives under our townhouse (don't ask... it's Richmond).

There's a bright shiny dollar in it for you if you can tell me what species developed synthehol without looking it up.  I know it.  It was in the episode where Scotty came on the Enterprise-D.

I swear I'm gonna go out and have a life in about 15 minutes.   ;)

having spent several hours at Quarks bar in Vegas, I attest that it was the Ferengi.

Why the hell not? One might as well let Space 1999 fans live (there is a big Barbara Bain contingent, even giving them a slight edge).

I am a compassionate person but can be pushed only so far.  A Dr. Who fan is as bad as or worse than a Trekkie.  At least the 60's Star Trek is amusing (unintentionally) but Dr. Who has always been boring.  Even my imagination requires more than foam rubber props and costumes.  Invasion of the 50 Foot Woman (#1) is a masterpiece in comparison to any episode of Dr. Who.  And that's being kind.  Except for Twilight Zone and maybe one or a couple of others no U.S. station has ever produced decent science fiction programs and what I've seen of other countries' offerings wasn't too good either.

Hope your pain subsides quickly, benj, and I advise you to threaten the landlord with a lawsuit for willful neglect and grievous bodily and emotional pain and suffering.   It can't hurt.

I buy into that "men don't bitch about it too loudly" thing.

I also have a high pain tolerance for things like that... so I just let out a string of cuss words, when somebody's watching, and I seriously do the "walk it off" thing.

Because to do otherwise would be threatening to my masculinity.

But rubbing my ass against some dude's crotch while moaning, "fuck me" isn't.

This makes perfect sense to me.  Kindly don't ask questions and accept it as a charming idiosyncrasy.

Holy shit the Gay Trekkies have figured out how to breed!

While this is good news on the gay front it certainly is a setback in the global extermination of trekkies.

And apparently after they figured out the Gay breeding thing, they shifted their focus to cross breeding of species...  Is it me or is the woman and her dog remarkably similar in appearance?

Oh I've got a special torture awaiting you, come the Revolution. ;)

Depends on whose revolution comes first.   There is no torture in my revolution.  Mine is, of course, based on principles of non-violence, but we have greatly broadened the definition of euthanasia. A simple 10 question test is all that's needed to qualify one as a candidate.  This new program will also help slow down the inevitable population explosion in the 21st century, at some point projected to be over 9 billion people

Many years ago a CSPAN-like channel covered an appearance of a military VIP at one of them east coast liberal colleges.  Audience members were in lines behind two microphones and one by one asked their questions.  A young man got to the microphone and started talking about casualties in Viet Nam or something and then asked "When the revolution comes do you want to be boiled, baked, or sauteed?"  The VIP didn't have an answer and the entire auditorium was silent for a few seconds.  It was hilarious.
