I seem to recall last year (or, was it the year before?) a number of us posted when we got our flu shots and it served as a reminder/nudge to others to get theirs, too. Maybe this thread will serve similarly.

I got mine last Thursday. And you?

I got mine last week, and then had a minor cold the rest of the week... :(

On another note, remember to ask what other vaccinations you need.  I did and we found out I was due for a tetanus shot.  We also found a mistake where a vaccination had been done but not recorded in the right spot on my chart.

I never gpt the flue shot until I was diagnosed in 1985, but have gotten it every year since. I have never gotten the flu since (knock on wood). I got mine last week, a bit sore in the arm for an hour but ok after that

I see my ID doc today and have to ask him about a Pneumovax booster. According to him I had my last shot 9 yearg ago and he didn't feel another was needed. I recent;y saw a health news bulletiin suggesting elderly, those with compromised immune systems, and smokers should get one every 8-10 years...is this right?

A line like this makes me think I am genetically related to Sarah Silverman, Joan Rivers, Cloris Leachman, and/or Whoopi Goldberg.  I suppose at this point, I would get all tense, too---a little prick might just kill me!

My doctor told me not to get one right now.  My 6 year cold came home sick last week, which we think was the flu.  Yesterday she was diagnosed with bronchitis and I am scared shitless!  Even my 1 year old is sick with a cough...  This is the exact way it started last year when I ended up in the hospital.

I got mine last Thursday. And you?

Dear Ms. Em,

I have been refusing Flu shots for several years.  Mostly because, I have lived in isolation since 2000 and have not even had a cold.  The Flu shot was offered again this year at the clinic and instead of refusing, I asked to wait and see being, I am not alone anymore 24/7 and I would like to wait pending what happens to others who get this years shot.  For many years, it seems there is a miscalculation in the make up of the Flu shot and many people who get the shot get very sick, while I remain healthy.  The Nurse at our clinic assured me if and when, I was ready, the shot will be available to me.  I am happy with this arrangement  ;D  Have the best day
Michael

My doctor told me not to get one right now.  My 6 year cold came home sick last week, which we think was the flu.  Yesterday she was diagnosed with bronchitis and I am scared shitless!  Even my 1 year old is sick with a cough...  This is the exact way it started last year when I ended up in the hospital.

and now i know just how sick you got.  You take of yourself and your family.  I don't know what to tell you what to do, but do whatever it takes to make sure all of you are OK.  OK?

robt

ps..... I'm like Philly...I see my Dr on the 17 and I'm sure she'll go for the shot....drats....just my luck.

I got mine and didn't feel it at all... and I mean I didn't even realize she had done it, which was a little disconcerting.

I got mine last week and the minute after the "prick" I tasted menthol...like those eucalyptis cough drops.

I've never received nor been advised to have a "shingles shot". Anyone else?

I may be mistaken, but I believe 'shingles shots' are reserved for neggies.

I got mine on Tuesday.  It was a miserable day....cold &wet,  windy,  rain coming at you from the side,  and I had to walk a few blocks take a bus and then walk again to get to the doctors office.  I went home right after and had a bowl of hot soup.  Today I feel fine.

re: "Shingles shots"

DavidNC - you're right according to this NIH site which has a .pdf of recommended and not recommended vaccinations. Zoster or shingles is one of 3 vaccines specifically NOT recommended for HIV positive adults www.aidsinfo.nih.gov/contentfiles/Recommended_Immunizations_FS_en.pdf -
