I'm on the radio
« on: August 31, 2006, 12:22:37 am »
Hey everyone

This is the first  time I've posted in 'off topic'. I'm generally Very quiet, but I have some exciting news. I recently started with the idea of writing a book and needed some essays for it so I thought I'd write about my 'life in the bush'. I live in a very small coastal town outside of Melbourne Australia. Long story short, I submitted a piece to the national radio here and they accepted it !!! I couldn't believe it. I had written poetry back in the USA many years ago and had some published but this was entirely new to me.

So, it will air sometime in the next 5 weeks. It's a piece entitled 'Among the Orchids' which is about the walking track behind my house and the annual orchid spectacular that I love so much. It will be on ABC Radio National program called Bush Telegraph, 'Country Viewpoint'  segment. I'll let you know the details and how to listen in when it will be broadcast. I'll also post it here once it plays. I recorded it at the ABC studios in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago.

So not only did that totally blow my mind, the producer also asked me to be a regular contributor to the program !!! I'm still coming down from the excitement. They have accepted three more pieces which I'll record soon and will be broadcast over the next several months. I'm not sure but I think they like my viewpoint as an immigrant (I'm American) and how I live in my world/hamlet.

So everyone, I wanted to share the good news. I'll keep you posted.

Wishing you all the best where ever you are !!!

in Peace and Love
Paul

Well, get off the damn radio, I'm trying to listen to Phillip Adams! ;)

Seriously Paul, well done! I wish we could get it up here in NSW. You don't podcast as well do ya?

Fondly,

MtD
