Am I superinfected
« on: December 09, 2019, 10:08:22 pm »
Hello guys. I am hiv positive since 2015 and I am on Art since the begining and I am undetectable. And I live in Turkey.

So tonight I had a date with a guy. And we were going for it. And he penetrated me without condom but after I say use condoms. He already came so early. He came in me. And I don't know his status. And since I always use protection I don't share my status. So I asked him if he gets tested or not he Said yes but I don't trust him.

And now I am about to die from fear. I used stribild for 3 and half years and for the last quarter my doctor switched me to Genvoya.. So I made an appointment now for later on 3 hours. And I am so afraid of superinfection.

But 2 years ago when my condom broke my doctor said don't worry about superinfection, your pills will reduce the risk of superinfection and in Turkey there is only one strain of hiv so there is a really low risk of superinfection in Turkey.

So I dunno. I am so scared. What should I do? What do you guys advice except getting tested because I will get tested every month for that.

Does anyone know how many people are superinfected all around the globe?

Hiya,

There are multiple strains of HIV in Turkey, just one is more common than the others.

Thankfully the treatment is largely the same and your HIV treatment is working, so it would act as PrEP.  PrEP is about 99% effective ;) So you have no reason to be freaking out or panicking about "Superinfections"

Besides this superinfection - reinfection - Dual infection or however you call it its highly rare to start with and doubted by some.

We have a few threads on this, people on HIV treatment worried about HIV exposure I mostly move of them I park them in the  "Prevention forum" so the more senior members chime in. Feel free to read them though.

Look practical side to this, test regularly for easier to transmit STI's as co-infection with other STI's is a far more real-world concern.

Hope this helps.
