Just curious.

For my own vain interest.

What is considered the 'average' waist size for a male?
Also, what is average for an 18 year old male?

Annnnddd, what would you consider a healthy waist size or attractive or whatever? Like if you were going shopping for jeans, not an exact measurement because those are two different things and difficult to compare.

Sorry wee man I don't have an answer for you, all my boys had different waistlines when they were 18 and they all looked good to me... ;)

I think a "healthy" waistline is whatever you are comfortable with.

As someone who can still slip into 28" and 30" inch jeans, and often has to shop in boyswear sections, I am probably not qualified to answer. God knows what I was wearing when I was 18.

I think 32 - 33 is the perfect size (maybe because that's what I am)   At 6'3 anything much smaller then that and I look like a concentration camp victim.  A lot really depends on your height and build so I don't think there is an ideal size.  I know guys who are shorter then I am and have similar or larger waist size but they have a much broader chest so it looks good on them.   Sorry to be so vague.  It's a matter of taste.

I'm generally sweet once I've popped my neurontin :)

But yes, your build sounds nice and proportional to me.  Plus I like tall men with no clothing on in their avatars.

I wouldn't worry about it, unless you were very overweight.

I have spent a huge amount of time obsessing over my weight over the years, although at my heaviest I was a 34" waist and 6ft4" tall.

It really is a waste of time.  Keeping active and having a good diet is the only answer.  If people are not able or choose not to follow that road, then I've found that we need to accept the way we are, jelly belly and all.

Well, I'm 5'6" and I wear a 30" and I'm very self conscious about it. At my smallest a couple years ago I had to seek out jeans in the 27" area and I'm just feeling very sad that I'm so much bigger now. I guess my goal is a 28" and I think that'd look good on me, just 'cause I have such a small build. I'm not really a typical size for a male at my age. Maybe if I were 13. :[

I dunno Mouse.  5'6 and 30w sounds pretty good to me.  I love guys who are shorter then me.
I think if you were a 38/40 you might have something to worry about (healthwise).

Everyone one is very body image conscience so it's hard to judge yourself.  I suggest you take off all your clothes and take a picture and I'll let you know what I think.   :D

Not sure how this translates into actual waist size, but in a February article The New York Times reported that in 2002 the average American male was 5'9 1/2 " and weighed 191 lbs (data collected by the CDC).  In comparison to the rest of the country, I'd say you're on the skinny side and doing just fine.

I would, however I doubt you'd enjoy prison. :P

Still underage for 5 more months! Although I didn't expect you to know that so it's all cool.
