Someone, please help. An hour ago I had sex with a guy and I am worried about contracting the virus. He gave me oral sex. He gave me oral and he gave me oral anally as well. He was stroking his dick and he put pre-cum on his finger and put it in my anus. I hope he was not trying to give me HIV but I am not sure! I am so worried that I have contracted the virus. I am unsure of his health status. Is there a great risk of getting HIV from him doing this? Thank you so much for your help.

There is absolutely NO RISK in getting oral sex from an HIV positive person, getting fingered or rimmed by an HIV positive person - even with pre-cum on his fingers.

Not only is saliva NOT infectious, but it contains over a dozen elements that render the virus inactive. In addition, HIV is extremely fragile. It can't remain infectious outside the body, not even for the split second it takes to use pre-cum to lubricate your penis, for example. In addition, only a few cells in the body are susceptible to HIV infection.

Thank you SO MUCH for responding back. I know it took just a few seconds before he inserted his finger into my anus. I am still a little worried but being able to ask members of this forum makes me feel a little better!

No risk. HIV is unable to reproduce outside its living host (unlike many bacteria or fungi, which may do so under suitable conditions), except under laboratory conditions; therefore, it does not spread or maintain infectiousness outside its host.

I'm just joining the chorus here to repeat that whatever details you throw into the mix, nothing you are reporting has put you at risk for HIV. No risk whatsoever. No testing necessary.

I also agree that you did not have a risk in any of the activities in which you took part.

As JK told you, sexually speaking hiv is spread through unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse. And that's it. Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse and you won't have to worry about hiv. It's that simple.

Here's what you need to know in order to avoid hiv infection:

You need to be using condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, every time, no exceptions until such time as you are in a securely monogamous relationship where you have both tested for ALL sexually transmitted infections together.

To agree to have unprotected intercourse is to consent to the possibility of being infected with an STI. Sex without a condom lasts only a matter of minutes, but hiv is forever.

Have a look through the condom and lube links in my signature line so you can use condoms with confidence.

ALTHOUGH YOU DO NOT NEED TO TEST SPECIFICALLY OVER FINGERING OR GETTING A BLOWJOB, anyone who is sexually active should be having a full sexual health care check-up, including but not limited to hiv testing, at least once a year and more often if unprotected intercourse occurs.

If you aren't already having regular, routine check-ups, now is the time to start. As long as you make sure condoms are being used for intercourse, you can fully expect your routine hiv tests to return with negative results.

Don't forget to always get checked for all the other sexually transmitted infections as well, because they are MUCH easier to transmit than hiv. Some of the other STIs can be present with no obvious symptoms, so the only way to know for sure is to test.

Use condoms for anal or vaginal intercourse, correctly and consistently, and you will avoid hiv infection. It really is that simple!

Is it possible to experience seroconversion without a fever? Also if you are coughing up phlegm/mucus, is this a sign that you have a cold/virus instead of you seroconverting? Thanks for responding.

As for your concern, neither the presence nor the absence of symptoms is ever a reliable means of knowing your HIV status. If you have had a risky incident only testing at the right time can give you that answer.

Nothing you are asking about symptomatically is HIV-specific. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor.
