National Health Care Day of Service

Yesterday I got the email from Organizing for America that Jun 27 is being organized as a National Health Care Day of Service. Much like the the National Day of Service on Jan 19th just before the inauguration. This seems like a natural for the HIV/AIDS community. I went to the web site and there was nothing happening where I will be that day (Seattle for work.) At least there was nothing HIV/AIDS related which is what I was looking for.

I have two questions. Well really a question and a challenge. First, anyone in the Seattle area know of an event that day or an ASO or HIV support organization that might be interested in having an event. I see lots of opportunities for education, testing, patient support etc.

The challenge part is for us to go to our local ASO's and health organizations and find out what they are doing and try to get them to participate if they are not. The care of people with chronic diseases like HIV, diabetes and others is an going to be an import piece of the solution. We should be part of the discussion.

As I finish this I realized that this is really a US only kind of thing but don't let that stop anyone from outside the US from getting involved in their communities!
