Title: Achieved "Undetectable"
Post by: jordan on June 28, 2006, 08:02:57 pm
Today I had my second doctor appointment after starting on Sustiva and Truvada.  My CD4 is at 377 up from 267 when I first started.  My viral burden is now undetectable after 4 months (when I first started it was at 282,234).

So it appears the medicine is working.  I had my cholesterol come in at 190 and the other tests came back in the normal range.

Between now and December the doctor just wants me to get 1) pneumovax 2) PPD/TB Skin Test and 3) Hepatitis A Series vaccine.

that's the way it ussually works.... the meds DO work well.   I just stopped sustiva because of issues I had with it after a year and half on it.   sustiva is a great drug provided you can deal with the side effects if you experience them... and by far most people don't have the psych issues I ended up with.

Just keep an eye out for odd behavior.

I'm glad you are doing really well on this and your numbers are improving.

And i have to ask, Is that your real picture?... Sorry to embarrass you.   But more than a few people round here think you are a cutie.   Just sayin. ™jkinatl

from what i remember about the TB test, it's also called the mantoux test i think. the nurse sticks you with a needle then you have to go back to them and show them how the pricked area looks........ the flatter, the better. (i think you have to protect the area from shower water to the best of your ability)

i also got the pneumovax and it was pretty simple

Hello Jordan,

Great job on the numbers ! The meds are kicking ASS !! I have had all the other shots and the TB test, that you have mentioned. Everything went well !! In my case, the doctor also ordered a chest X-Ray, back in 2003, and I also had an EKG done.

Looking good/ Hang in there--------Ray :)

Congratulations Jordan! But what about the HepB vaccinations. I just finished my vaccinations the 21th of june. Remember you have to get an immunology test a few months later (Ill have mine in september) to see if if the shots worked and you are protected against those infections.

Congratulations Jordan! But what about the HepB vaccinations.

Apparently I've had Hepatitis B at one point in my life (I didn't know it) and my body cured itself is what the doctor said.  He went on to say something about the core and the vaccine is not an option for me  :'(

Hello Everyone,

I have finally achieved "undetectable in two weeks... I was shocked today when they told me.  My VL was 49,330.

I was sick with a sore throat and antiboitics and the blood draw I took today may not show any changes in my CD4 due my body fighting to fix my sore throat but we will see... here are my results prior to med

6/15/06-1st test results prior to meds
Viral Load >49,330
CD4 290
CD4/CD8 ratio .33

Today Results

6/27/06- Sustiva/Truvada (started on 6/21/06
Viral Load  Undectected
CD4 290  (Same)
CD4/CD8 ratio .33  The same

Well everyone this is a beginning and I been under the weather and haven't slept in a few days.... just thought I would post it ..... max

 Congrats Jordan,

But what does undetectable mean?  Are you pretty much cured as long as you stay on the medication?  Are the long term effects of these drugs?

Thanks for your time  :)

Ducheau,

Living With HIV is a forum for people who are HIV positive or directly affected by the virus, ie they have a loved one who is positive. You shouldn't be posting here.

It's in the signature line of his posts. Same place you put:

GBM just arriving and boy have I found a place to help keep me calm before the storm, if any at all.

in yours.

Oakmax, the poster in question is indeed HIV negative. You can research the last posts of a person by clicking on their name, then scrolling down to the bottom of the profile, and clicking on "show the last posts."

Matty was absolutely correct in his assessment and his response.

Hi Greg

Welcome to the forums.  Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis.

Your post will probably get more notice if you start a new thread instead of putting it in this one (which is about Jordan's labs)

Simply go to the Living with Forum and click on "New Topic"

There are loads of people here that you can "talk" with.  They are truly amazing.

Again sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis.
