they should have stopped at "but"
« on: October 24, 2013, 05:05:52 pm »
i see these things every once in a while and it just irks me when it's on a site that concerns someone else's health and promotes helping others with their health issues. To me, when people see things like this, this is where the worried wells get their what about this questions over and over. anyway the link is below and the first line in the article says "16 Signs You May Have HIV. Think you have HIV? The only way to tell is to get an HIV test, but here are some possible symptoms."

they shouldv'e stopped before the big but!!

climbing down from soapbox now. if this is in the wrong place please move.

Irks me as well.

Those other sites are aggregates. Too lazy to verify the veracity or the appropriate nature of their claims. Too lazy to update the informtion when it is found to be obsolete, and too arrogant to respond when people who actually know their shit speak out.

They are a thorn in my side insofar as AM I INFECTED is concerned.

"Many people, especially in the gay community, turn to oral sex as a safer alternative in the age of AIDS. And with HIV rates rising, people need to remember that oral sex is safer sex. It's a reasonable alternative."

True ... The thing about ARS symptoms is that they are similar to many other conditions  than HIV and that's why we don't discuss symptoms and insist the only way to know your status is to test .

If I try to see a positive side to the article its ( no pun intended ) that it does get people to thinking about HIV . I didn't read the whole article and could very well want to take any good thing I said about it .

This had me wondering whether Am I Infected should be renamed.  No one can tell you whether you are infected, except someone doing testing.  Perhaps it should be called something like, "What are the risks for HIV Infection" or something like that.
