Larry Hagman dies
« on: November 24, 2012, 07:41:54 am »
I was really never a huge fan of Dallas.  But I remember when JR was shot, that was like one of the most important happening in the nation-Who shot JR?

I did watch I Dream Of Jeannie when I was a kid.  RIP Larry Hagman.

NOOOOOOO  :'(

I grew up on "Dallas" and he was my favorite villian.

Of course he returned to TNT with the remake of Dallas last season, and the new season is scheduled to air Jan28th. He was great in the remake, same old wily JR, but he did look a bit frail.

Apparently he has filmed 6 episodes for the second season and producers are working on a storyline for his character death.

Way back when I remember being in Frankfurt for the annual book fair and being amazed that everything STOPPED in the German bar we were in so that everyone could watch DALLAS. The Brits loved it.

Truthfully I never got it. I was more a Flash Gordon and Ming the Merciless kinda guy.

I am a Dallas fan.  However, I liked it's spin-off, Knots Landing, better.  J.R. made 3 or 4 appearances on Knots.  I guess that was to help their ratings in the first and second seasons.  The new Dallas on TNT is actually pretty good.  The writing is better than the soapy storylines we're use to.  He wasn't on the new show all that much.  "Bobby" got way more airtime, obviously due to Hagman's health, plus pay rate.  It will be interesting, if they bring Knots characters back for the funeral on the show.  Abby and JR hooked up a few times.

Hopefully Josh Henderson kills him off and then takes over the world. Shirtless.

Dating me but Dallas was on tv in the decade I didn't watch much TV, but of course I've seen quite a few episodes since....
Hagman is always gonna be Captain/Major Nelson.  It was like Matt Mason was in a grown up sit com and I got all the I Love Lucy slapstick but there was a sexy grown up part of it i only sort of got. It was produced by Sidney Sheldon!
