HIV Paranoia
« on: October 22, 2011, 01:06:33 pm »
Hi, I'm probably being paranoid to the very extreme but i cant get some of these thoughts out of my mind. I recently went out for a drink (a lot as it happened) with a few friends and was fairy drunk by 10pm. I had a few more drinks and then the rest is rather blurry, when im drunk i never fall over or act totally inebriated even though i am. I can have conversations and everything, i just cant remember the next day.

Anyway i went to a bar around 2am apparently and cant remember how i got there, friends said i followed them. I was outside of this paticular bar when a man approached me asking for sexual favours, this i do remember. I remember saying i wasnt interested over and over, and can kind of remember walking away. He kept trying to persuade me into his car around the corner. Thats the last i remember till i went home at 4am in a cab :S

What i want to ask is, if anything did occur against my will, or otherwise (unprotected sex) would i know about it, soreness or discomfort the next day? Im 99% sure nothing did i just hate it when i have blackouts of  a few hours where i can only remember certain parts :S.

Thanks, from a very HIV paranoid person.

If you think you might have had unprotected receptive anal sex, then yes you have had a risk. A slightly lessor risk would be unprotected insertive anal sex.

That, and sharing IV drug needles is the only way this would become an HIV concern.

I dont think i did like i said, there was only a 30 minuteish gap where i went missing according to friends, and i left in a taxi with them at the end of the night. I was just so wasted i didnt know what i was doing. Its more of an alcohol problem as ive done it a few times before now and never learn, its just this time my HIV paranoia has come around yet again because a gay guy offered me oral sex and im trying to second guess myself whether anything happened because he was trying to get me in his car :@ These people just seem like they more than likely sleep around and have a great chance of having something nasty.

Surely i would of remembered getting in a car and performing a sexual act especially when i remember getting in a cab an hour or so later...

Would there be any discomfort the morning after for me if anything did happen (especially receptive anal), and when can i get the earliest test results just for peace of mind. I am straight by the way! Am i obsessing over nothing!?

You are indeed obsessing over nothing. Having receptive anal sex takes time and effort, orbarring that, can be traumatic to the extreme.

This is not at all an HIV situation.

That excessive drinking IS the big red flag in the situation you are concerned about. All too many times I have known of those who were unable to negotiate safer sex because of excessive drinking.

I urge you to get yourself some support if you need help with addressing that problem and since you recognize this has happened with you before. Happily there's no HIV problem this time.
