You can't upload an animated gif.   I forget the technical reasoning behind all of this but an animated gif has to be seen and animated through the browser some particular way and you'll have to do it by hosting it on your own URL like via myspace and then, in your profile, use the "I have my own pic:" selection to post it.

You can't upload an animated gif.

Well, I did. Doesn't it work for you?
Perhaps there's a size limit but I couldn't find any restrictions.
My current avi is 25 KB, 100x100 px.

Really?  I tired it about 6 months ago when I first signed up and all it would accept was the gif UN-animated, which is why I used the choice to upload it directly from my own URL address, which still should work for anyone here because you can just use a flickr, imageshack or any free image hosting account if you don't want to mess with myspace or have your own URL.

The incredibly purposeful avatar I used is 24 KB, 80 x 80.  If I get bored I'll try and play around and see what works and doesn't works.  I downloaded a free program that will build and resize animated gif's that I need to learn as well.

Like this? I hope the speed is comfy to you... :-*

1. Download this image to your HD
2. Upload it to your own (or some free) webspace
3. Link the url to your profile.
4. Enjoy.
