I've been a Proud Cult Member of Myspace since January 2004.

It's easy to meet people in your area... or if you're going on a vacation, you'll have some people to hang out with.

Hell, I had an 18 month relationship come out of Myspace.

i think you are supposed to make music or something related, in order to promote yourself... i'd never use it as some kind of gaydar or any other dating site, which is not... but still you get people doing it (like the last post.  :P)

I have a page, but it is remarkably unremarkable.  I am just not the shopping or decorating type.  I have a hard time mustering the will to spend time throwing all the whistles and bells on it.

Myspace is suppose to be for musicians to get their music out but was corrupted and made into the booty call spot. I had to let people know through blogs that, that was not what I was there for. I think I'm about to close my profile because someone has hijacked my profile. I can't even update anything because someone did something to it. I have tried all their fixes and even emailed them with no reply.

Anything goes with Myspace. There IS a lot to be gained from that particular browsing experience.

That's what is thought it was supposed to be for-  musicians to get exposure & find an audience and/or label.  I kept hearing everyone say...''are you on myspace?'' ''what's your myspace name?''  etc.  I went to check it out and could hardly filter through to find musicians anymore-  it was all covered up with just general social stuff.

I used to be really into Myspace... now... not so much.

But my surveys that I fill out rule at life.  All of you who are my friends know that a bulletin or a blog from Beers for Algernon means nothing but quality hilarity.

Music might have been the original reason for my space, but for almost two years it has been owned by Rupert Murdock's NewsCorp....also owner of Fox News etc.

I would say their focus has changed, especially since they now get at least as many or more hits than sites like Google and Yahoo.

The web traffic that Myspace gets IS incredible. This explains the frequent traffic jams that occur with the site.

I was forced to make a page on myspace. I never bother going there. Some people's profiles have SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much crap in them, they take forever to open. I'd rather watch the grass grow~

I have a myspace page.  I never check it.   If I'm going to chat online I'd much rather do so with something that offers quicker responses.  Looking at someone's pictures of their cool friends and the party they went to last night is about as interesting to me as dust.

Hear hear!

However, WordPress rocks, it does everything and is easy to divvy up into elegant, bespoke formats that deliver properly coded web pages including shwoing off your pool party and dog/cat photos (why?).
