Question About ADAP Re-Certification
« on: November 29, 2009, 11:11:14 am »
I realize that it probably varies depending on one's state of residence but I was wondering: once a person has been approved for ADAP, how often after that does one have to be presenting documentation, etc., in order to continue receiving it?

I have to reapply annually and show a tax transcript, recent check stubs, prescriptions, and the like.  In addition I have to meet with my case manager every six months and show recent check stubs.

I've been on ADAP now for over 8 years, and in two separate states (NY and PA).  In New York they never once had me re-certify, and even when I applied I didn't have to go through a case manager if I chose not to -- you could just download the form from the health department in Albany and mail it in IIRC.  Of course, perhaps things have changed there in the past five years.

Here in Pennsylvania to get on ADAP you have to go through a case manager, though before you get a case manager you have to do a verbal interview on the phone with the health department in Harrisburg.  I have to fill out a form annually by mail, with no case manager involved, to be recertified.  All I am required to supply for income verification is my last SS annual statement.  I guess if I was employed it would be last year's income tax form or something.

I'm not sure why anyone would need to know what specific medications I'm on.
