New Labs - Swapping Sustiva for Reyataz/Norvir
« on: November 21, 2008, 10:05:25 am »
Hi all,
Hope you will have a delicious warm Thanksgiving. Saw frozen Turkeys the other day in the yuppie supermarket, here in European "mitteland" - so freaking expensive!!! Do Turkeys cost 80 bucks now in USA?

I got new labs today.  From August I went from 3,700,000 to 136, last week.

I previously posted that I felt great on Sustiva Truvada for about 2 months then pretty lousy... Skin chills and burning under the skin. Feeling like the "having the flu" by the end of the day.  Otherwise, I can't complain about Sustiva-Turvada -- look it stopped HIV pretty damn fast!!  No other side effects.  Love the dreams.

So now tonight I will swap out the Sustiva for Reyataz with Norvir boost. I asked about Isentress and ID said he "preferred to go with the tried and true, Isentress offering unknowns...."  Geez.

Also my CD4's fell, but ID said not significant...  Predicted I would eventually plateau at about 600.
I guess you take what you can get.  I've been positive since May. Quickly on meds... Labs below in signature.  I have no resistances to any HIV meds.

Questions for the floor:

1) Any positive words from those who have already been on Truvada/Reyataz??

2) Indications say to take this combo with food. So with dinner?  If bedtime, how much food would I need to eat in order to assure good absorption...?  When do you take, what has worked best for you??

3) Think I'll get the runs?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Mecch

Switching from Sustiva/Combivir to Reyataz/Norvir/Kivexa was a very nice experience for me. No more drunk feeling or burning sensations, it has improved my mental health and energy levels, my lipo problems have disappeared etc etc etc.

I take my meds in the morning as breakfast is the meal that I eat at the most regular time. I need to eat at least two sandwiches in combination with the meds in order not to feal nauseous after a while.

Regarding the runs I can't really comment since I've had them ever since I started on meds 10 yrs ago. However, I've found the problem less frequent since I switched meds and I need a lower dose loperamide to fix it.

I take it in the AM, goes good with a breakfast smoothie.  I get irregular when I take it on empty stomach mostly.  I suppement with glutamine, I think it helps.  No known side effects for me.
yule do great.
