One year Triple By-pass Anniversary is tomorrow!!
« on: July 01, 2009, 07:24:38 pm »
Greetings Everyone!

It's been a while since I've posted--thought I would touch base and update everyone since my surgery anniversary is quickly approaching (July 2nd).

Hard to believe its been a whole year since my triple by-pass fiasco. Happy to report that I am doing well, although my chest has never felt normal since the operation. I've been told it could take several years for all discomfort to dissipate.

I also celebrated my first year of not smoking on June 2nd. I am surprised how easy it has become to stay away from the cigs. Actually it was fairly easy to quit as well. I guess getting the sh%# scared out of me was a real motivator to give it up for good this time. Its all about love for my heart and health.

Anyway, I really appreciated all the support and kind words that were given to me on this forum. I go forward with a renewed appreciation for life and gratitude for all that I have.

Namaste,

Damon

Hey Damon,

Congratulations on the anniversary - and the quitting smoking. I know how that feels, its been about two and a half for me.

It sounds like you are doing well and appreciating life.

I think that is about all any of us can ask for.

HUGS,

Mark

Damon, congratulations on your annivesary, (both the anniversaries).  It's been almost 6 months for me with the quitting smoking, and it does get easier.

Take care!

Thanks Mark and BT65.

Wow. Great job with quitting smoking ya'll!! It sure is nice being able to breathe again, huh?

Adding to my well being is the puppy (Dexter) I got a few months ago. He is 6 1/2 months old and has mastered the house breaking habit-- Hallelujah!. He has brought me much needed joy into my life and I can't imagine not having him. Dexter is a miniature rat terrier. Oh, how I wish I had half the energy that he has!

Anyway, life is good and getting better all the time... ;D

Thanks AA!

Yes, pets can be really therapeutic. I am anxious for him to grow up though. Having a puppy is like having a young child in many ways. At times it can be quite taxing on my energy level. Its worth it to me though with the benefits outweighing any negatives. I'm just glad I made it through the house breaking stage!

...and I can rest easy knowing there will be no college expenses other than my own.   ;D

Congratulations,

Sounds like that was quite a surgery. Glad you are better. Many more years to come!

Thanks Smalltown66,

It was an experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone. I had good support from friends and family which helped enormously.

My clogged arteries were a gift from my cigarette habit of 32 years. Thank God I was given a second chance!
