An amazing story splashed across the cover and inside pages of yesterday's NY Times Dining Out section:

Click on the "New York Times" link in the story -- it's well worth reading.  Sean Strub has some great quotes, and POZ is mentioned often.  I've known Florent Morellet for many years -- he's got a heart of gold.

I'm barely recognizing the New York I arrived at in 1983.   :(

Florent Morellet.  Oh that takes me back.  I used to go to his restaurant a lot when I first moved to NYC in '89.  Back then the only thing right around there was Mars, the huge night club, and tranny hookers.  Now you have uptown limos outside of Jeffrey.

I'd heard rumblings that this was going to happen.  That area he was in has changed way to much in the past 5 years so this isn't surprising.

I remember Ebony Jett working there, and going there for a late night snack after hanging at The Lure.

Sad to know it is closing.
