GA ADAP Program needs your help
« on: February 08, 2012, 01:38:06 am »
The State of GA does not fund ADAP (Medications for the poor, and the program also helps pay for Co-pays for those that are not rich) And almost every other state in the country does. All the funding is comming from Ryan White Fund (federal Program that some how has ended up funding a program a state should be dealing with). So that means GA has a short fall of funds to help these ppl. I am a Veteran so mine are covered except the co-pay, But I am am involved becouse it has a big impact the more ppl that are involved.
How to help at this time all the lobbying is being organized by the gay organizations, they don't bit. get up and go to a meeting http://equalityfederation.salsalabs.com/o/35006/p/salsa/event/common/public/?event_KEY=1516
You will end up helping ppl you don't know gay and straight, you will feel like you got something done. This meeting is to go to Georgia State Capitol - 3rd floor
206 Washington Street Southwest
Atlanta, GA    and lobby the State Congress to fund the program like every other state does you will meet ppl. Have a peacefull morning and learn more about how to use the system to start dealing with issues Straight HIV ppl are dealing with. Straight ppl are amoung the fastest growing groups of ppl getting the virus. Help this program plz. Maybe we can start a Straight coalition for HIV issues to help support a bigger focus on this and other things. We no longer can sit back and think the gay ppl that are the only ppl that need to support/show-up and lobbly for programs we need to improve in this state alot of us all need and/or should be consernded with. As POZ ppl our selves.
If Ryan White fund was not spending there money paying for what GA as a State should be, The Rhyan White money could be used to deal with the other issues it was intended to deal with like houseing and drug programs to slow the spread of this even more.
