Title: Fight AIDS at home
Post by: milker on October 07, 2007, 03:29:49 pm
Hello,

this is a reminder that this project is still going on.

"What is FightAIDS@Home?"

FightAIDS@Home is the first biomedical distributed computing project ever launched. It is run by the Olson Laboratory at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. We provide free software that you download and install. The software uses your computer's idle cycles to assist fundamental research in discovering new drugs, building on our growing knowledge of the structural biology of AIDS.

An aidsmeds team has already been created back in may: http://forums.poz.com/index.php?topic=12292.msg153533#msg153533

Join the team and add your computing power!

Milker.

thanks for reposting this. It was something I meant to do, but never got around to doing.

I've got a couple extra computers running at my house (running webcams that monitor the pool, driveway, and inside the house). I've installed this on one of the extra machines and will see how it goes. if things go well, i'll try setting in up on another machine too. gotta see how it effects my connection, network, etc.
